I went on a short vacation for the first time since December 2019. My family and I drove the 6 hours to Burlington, Vermont and spent a few days there and in the area. I have a ton of photos and picked out some (still a lot) from the first evening there and the first full day.
After we arrived in Burlington and checked in to the hotel and all that we walked down to the harbor which was across the street. Lake Champlain is so pretty with the view of the mountains in the distance. The lake is between the Green Mountains in Vermont and the Adirondacks in New York. Then we walked around Church Street where there are a lot of shops and restaurants while we waited for our dinner reservation. A food post coming on Wednesday!
The next day we hung around Burlington. After brunch at The Skinny Pancake, we walked around some more and did some shopping before getting on to the Spirit of Ethan Allen cruise on Lake Champlain. The cruise was an hour and half long and the views were so pretty. We ate lunch on board and everything was so picturesque. I also stopped in to the BCA (Burlington City Arts) space. I had walked past the evening before and saw a really fun art display inside but they were already closed. The sign said it was free and open to the public so when I walked by the next day I stopped in. The current installation is called “Bubblegum Pop” and is so fun!
After the cruise, we drove to the Lake Champlain Chocolate flagship store. There is a shop on Church Street that we went to as well, but we wanted to check out the larger store for some more items. They actually didn’t have the chocolate dipped apricots that I had seen at the Church Street shop the evening before so I ended up going back to Church Street to grab those and also walked further down the street to get some Ben & Jerry’s!
After some coffee at the Starbucks on the street (of course I picked up a Vermont mug there to add to my collection!) we went back to the hotel to relax for a bit before dinner. The area is really cute in the evenings with all the lights.
So that’s what I did on the first 2 (1.5 really) days in Vermont! More to come tomorrow!
