#fbf San Francisco Hills
When most people think of San Francisco they probably think of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and fog. Sometimes people think about the steep hills in the city and they are seriously steep. It’s hard to capture the steepness in photos. You have to be in just the right spot for it to translate on camera. While I was looking through photos on my phone I came across a photo that I think really shows off the steep streets. The photo I’m sharing today in this #fbf, Flashback Friday, is from the morning I went to Lombard St. aka The Crookedest Street. After taking a ton of photos and waiting…

Lombard St., Painted Ladies, & Golden Gate Bridge
I have to start this post off with a disclaimer that this is an extremely picture heavy post. I tried to narrow it down, but there were too many good ones! And trust me, I have about 3 times more photos from each day of vacation than what actually makes it on here! On our last full day in San Francisco, we went to 3 tourist stops we didn’t get a chance to get to yet in the city. Oddly enough this was our first day of the trip that we stayed in San Francisco the whole day! When we first arrived it was already late afternoon so I don’t…

Monterey, Carmel, & 17 Mile Drive
Happy Wednesday! I hope your week’s going well so far. I got back from my trip to California on Monday night, but I’ve still got some travel posts coming your way. Today, we cover my day trip to Monterey, Carmel, and the scenic 17-mile drive. On Saturday morning we went on another day trip tour with Gray Line. This time on a drive down part of the California coast. Years ago when I visited San Francisco, my family and I drove down the coast via the Pacific Coast Highway over the course of 2 days down to LA and Disneyland so we saw a lot more of the coast. On…

Muir Woods & Sausalito
Friday was a slower paced day with a day trip to Sausalito and Muir Woods. It wasn’t part of a tour, just a day trip on our own so we could go at whatever pace we wanted. Granted, we did have to follow the ferry schedule and make it to our reserved shuttle time from Sausalito to Muir Woods. Before getting on the 10am ferry to Sausalito, we walked around and got breakfast at the Ferry Building. It’s similar to Chelsea Market in New York City (but smaller) with lots of little shops and food places. Mostly artisan. They have one of those old fashioned schedule boards where the letters…

Yosemite
I’m headed home from vacation today. It went by so quickly and I’m not ready for summer to end! I still have some vacation posts to come though. A few days ago I went to Yosemite National Park for the first time. I only saw a fraction of the massive national park so I’ll definitely have to go back one day. My family and I went on a tour that left from San Francisco for a day trip to the park, which is about 3.5 hours away. We left around 7am and got back to San Francisco around 9:30pm so it was a long and tiring day, but the sights…

Angel Island, Alcatraz, and Fisherman’s Wharf
On the first full day we had here in San Francisco, we had a full day of sightseeing. I’ve been to Alcatraz and Fisherman’s Wharf before when I was last here a long time ago, but had never been to Angel Island. My cousins who I’m traveling with have never been so we got tickets that included both Angel Island and Alcatraz. Before heading over to the ferry we had breakfast at the Embarcadero and walked down to the pier we were leaving from. The ferry ride over to Angel Island was around 45 minutes and there were spectacular views of the Bay Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, the San…

Traveling to San Francisco
Happy Saturday! If you’ve been following me on Instagram then you know I’m on vacation in San Francisco and will be here for another couple days. I’ve only been to San Francisco one time before and that was 20 years ago so it’s been a while to say the least. I remember the steep streets and the cool weather. I remember a few of the landmark sites and attractions like Coit Tower, Lombard Street, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge etc. I’d heard from a few people over the past few months that San Francisco has changed a lot over the years and many aspects of it had gone downhill, but…
