48 Hours in California

48 hours in California might not seem like a big deal if you live somewhere like say, Nevada, which is close by. I live all the way on the opposite side of the country so to travel to California for just 2 days was exhausting! My friend since elementary school got married in Sacramento over the weekend and I went with a few friends just for the weekend. We left on an early morning flight on Friday and left San Francisco on Sunday morning, arriving back home after the 5 hour flight and time change on Sunday night. Then, I had to go back to work on Monday for the first day back after spring break, so it was a tiring weekend!

What did I do in my short time in California?

We flew into San Francisco instead of Sacramento because of flights and airfare prices. San Francisco is about 1.5 hours from Sacramento. After waiting for over an hour for our rental car, we spent a few hours in San Francisco. We got lunch and rode the cable cars down to Fisherman’s Wharf. We stopped at Ghirardelli while we were down there and got a distant view of the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a nice cable car ride and a nice way for two of my friends who had never been to SF before to see a little of the city. However, the line to get back onto the cable car so we could get back to where our car was was ridiculous. We waited over an hour to get back on, putting us behind schedule to get to Sacramento.

We got into Sacramento around 7:45pm and didn’t have time to go to the hotel first to freshen up before heading to our friend’s Welcome Dinner. It was very casual so it ended up being okay that we hadn’t gotten changed or came late. We stayed for a little while and had a toast with our friend before we left to get some In-N-Out since there wasn’t much food left at the dinner.

Tired at this point, we headed back to the hotel to get some sleep.

I woke up before 7am on Saturday and couldn’t fall back asleep. So after a while scrolling on my phone from bed, I decided to get up for the day. I showered, did some standing yoga from the Peloton app, and then texted my friends to see if they were up and wanted to go get coffee/breakfast.

One of my friends and I walked a few blocks to a really cute cafe to get coffee and baked goods for breakfast. Our other friends joined us a little while later.

After breakfast, we walked around a little bit to get back to the parking garage to get our car to do a little shopping (basically, one of my friends forgot his suit for the wedding). As we walked we passed this church that I thought just looked beautiful with the sun streaming in and the trees around.

After shopping, we got tacos for lunch, which were delicious and then headed back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding.

The ceremony took place at the Sacramento World Peace Rose Garden. It was gorgeous with all the flowers all around.

Next, we headed to the reception for food, dancing, and celebrating the happy couple. I’ll be posting some photos of my dress later this week!

On Sunday, I had to wake up at 4am to get ready to go back to San Francisco for our flight back home. So it was a jam packed weekend! Surprisingly I’m not feeling too exhausted or dead despite all the traveling and lack of sleep all weekend so that’s good.

I made a Reel highlighting the 48 hours that I’ll be posting on Instagram today.

Tomorrow, I’ll post details on the food from the trip and on Friday I’ll post about my wedding guest dress!
