Is It Hard To Make Lasting Lifestyle Changes?

Lasting lifestyle changes take commitment. To achieve them, you have to wake up every day and choose to pursue the habit breaks and the healthy changes you’d like to make. And for a lot of people, that takes up all their energy!

And honestly, we don’t blame anyone who feels that way. When you want to make a difference for the sake of your wellness, you’re going to need to put a lot of hard work in. Automatically this makes lasting lifestyle changes difficult to sustain! But how difficult are they really? Let’s go through some tips that might help you out.

Tackle Your Pain First

If there’s something physical stopping you from changing your life for the better, tackle that before anything else. For one thing, if you’re in pain a lot, or you have a chronic condition that makes pain a common daily occurrence, you should work with centers that offer neuropathy and pain solutions that could help. The earlier you get the advice you need, the easier it’ll be to find the energy to break the habits you’ve been wanting to kick for a long time now!

Make One Change at a Time

If you want to wake up earlier, go to bed earlier, change your diet, start up a skincare routine, cut off a few toxic friends, and also be more productive at work, you’re going to tire yourself out before you start! So make only one change at a time, ensure you’re comfortable with it, and then move on to trying out a different change. If you pace yourself, you’ll have far more success with going where you want to be.

Ask a Friend to Check in

If you can, ask a friend or two to keep up with you. Get them to send you a text or call you at the end of the week to see how you did with a diet change, or your workout plan for the week. Then, if you can tell them something to be proud of, you get a treat! If not, you have someone there to hold you accountable by your very own rules. For a lot of people, this is more than enough motivation to commit to the change they want to make!

Use External Reminders

Sometimes it’s hard to make a change on your own! And if you live alone or your loved ones don’t really live nearby, you’re going to need to use some external reminders to keep you on track. Post-it notes on the fridge, alarms on your phone, a diary in which you can check things off, etc. All of these things can help you out on your journey to trying healthier things, and with physical reminders on your side, you won’t just have to rely on yourself.

Making a lasting lifestyle change is different for everyone. If you’re having trouble, use tips like these to help keep yourself on track. Don’t doubt it; you can do this!
