Pastel de Nata Cooking Class

Pastel de Nata are famous Portuguese egg tarts that I’ve tried a few times before back home and have had the Chinese version my whole life (Macau is an island by Hong Kong where my family is from and it used to be a Portuguese colony). So naturally we have been eating a lot of pastel de natas here in Portugal and we took a private cooking class through C & D Porto Local Tours. The class was on the other side of the river in Vila Nova de Gaia. Our host/instructor was so nice and helpful and gave us so many tips on the pastry, Porto, Portugal, and some history fun facts too! Here are just some of the many photos I took during the class!

The bottom is swirled from the rolling we did to the puff pastry!

These pastel de nata were so incredibly delicious! I am definitely going to try to make it again at home! If you come to Portugal, specifically the Porto/Vila Nova de Gaia area, then this pastel de nata workshop is so worth it.
