Day Trip to Sintra
On our last full day in Portugal, we did a day trip to Sintra with Inside Lisbon. It was about a 45 minute drive from Lisbon. The main focus of the tour was Pena Palace – the royal summer palace back when there was still a royal family in Portugal. It was chilly and foggy there, but the colorful palace was still so pretty to see and walk around. Then, we went down to the village of Sintra to walk around a bit and get some pastries that are famous to Sintra. Next was a quick stop at Cabo da Roca, which is the western most part of continental Europe. When you look out all you see is the vast Atlantic Ocean and since at that point is about the same longitude as New York so straight across the Atlantic from there is home since I live in New Jersey! Fun fact, a few hundreds years ago before America was discovered by the Europeans and they thought the earth was flat the Portuguese thought that this was the end of the world and if they sailed from here they would fall off the earth. Our last stop was Cascais for lunch, which we had just been to on our own a few days prior but it was a good stop for some lunch and gelato.

This day may have been my last full day in Portugal, but I still have a few posts to share!
