Book Review: One Night Standard
A couple weeks ago I got a surprise package in the mail – an early copy of One Night Standard by E.F. Dodd! I was so excited to get a copy of this book because I’ve loved every E.F. Dodd book I’ve read.

One Night Standard is the second book in the Standard of Love series. I read A Higher Standard last year and this book follows Gideon’s business partner, Jamie Standard, and Coral Triton. Jamie is going to Las Vegas for a couple of weeks to lay low after a news article came out about him in a Boston magazine calling him the bad boy of business with interviews from women he’s been with in the past all saying work was the most important thing in his life and he had no time for love. While the women all admitted that he was nothing but honest with them, his rakish behavior may not go over well with the guy they’re trying to close a business deal with who is from old money. Coral is moving to Vegas to start her new job, headlining a full mermaid show at the strip’s newest hotel L’Atelier. Jamie and Coral run into each other at the airport and sparks fly, but they don’t exchange any information – not even their names.
Then the two run into each other again at one of the hotel restaurants and have a steamy one-night stand and besides first names they don’t now anything about each other even though they both want to know more about the other. Thinking that they may never see each other again, they’re surprised to see one another when Coral is performing a preview show in the hotel lobby and a recording of their encounter goes viral. Now Jamie’s sister who happens to be Coral’s boss thinks they should enter into a fake romance to bring publicity to the show and she also thinks the romance can help Jamie’s image for his business deal.
I loved this book and loved Jamie and Coral. I think both characters were great and I liked that they were both strong and successful individually, but together they had a support system and fan that they didn’t even realize they needed. The storyline was really good and the fake dating trope worked really well for the whole story. The spice was so good too!
Read this if you want a spicy romcom with the fake dating trope. The book comes out on November 6!
*I was sent a copy of this book but all opinions are my own.*
