Book Review: Belladonna

The Belladonna series by Adalyn Grace has been on my tbr for a while and I have finally started it! I finished the first book, Belladonna, over the weekend.

The novel follows Signa Farrow, a young woman who has been moving from relative to relative since the death of her parents when she was a baby. Aside from her grandmother, who also passes away when Signa is a child, most of her relatives are more interested in her money than in actually taking care of her. For one reason or another, Signa gets passed along amongst family with the main reason usually being death. For this reason, Signa hates death and she believes when her relatives have died she’s seen Death, but he has been unable to touch her.

When she arrives at Thorn Grove, the estate of her last remaining relatives, the Hawthornes, she thinks she may have finally found a place to call home. Her cousins and uncle are still in mourning for their mother/wife, but she feels comfortable there. However, when she sees the ghost of her aunt and learns that she was murdered, she must find out who was behind it and save her cousin, Blythe, before she dies too and she just might need to partner up with Death to solve the case.

I really enjoyed this book, but it was a little creepier than I was anticipating! I do scare easy though so some readers may not find it creepy at all. I really liked Signa and the Hawthornes too. I also really liked Death and the connection and relationship that builds between him and Signa was deep and beautiful. I’m looking forward to reading the next book to see what happens next.

Read this if you want a YA paranormal historical romance with a murder mystery.
