Downtown Somerville Outing During Heatwave

It has been a very rainy last few days, but last week there was a heatwave with temps staying around 100 for days. On one of those very hot days, I decided to venture out anyway and leave the comfort of the ac in my home. We went to downtown Somerville to get lunch (sushi at Sushi Palace), walk to the indie bookstore Monty & Milo where I picked up a book, went to Milkshake Factory to cool off with some cold treats in the air conditioning, and then went to a plant store – Spotted Leaf – where I picked up a new plant (a nerve plant) and a little planter for it. The Spotted Leaf was very cool inside and I might actually be going back today when I’m back in that area.

I loved the white floral maxi I wore on this day – it kept me cool and I love how it is backless! I’ve been to the bookshop once before, last summer, but it was in their old location which was very small. This is their larger location. It’s really cute inside, but they didn’t have as much selection as I had hoped for. They do have a variety of second hand books though which was cool!
