Kent Island Day 1

Earlier this week I went on a 2.5 days girls’ trip with one of my best friends. We considered multiple destinations earlier this year and had originally really wanted to go somewhere in New England – specifically Maine, but since we only were going for 2-3 days we decided to choose a closer destination. Southern Maine is at least 5 hours away so we decided to go to Kent Island, Maryland which is a in the Eastern Shore on the Chesapeake and only 3 hours away. This made for a quick trip so we weren’t spending so much time on the road for the couple of days. It ended up being perfect for our short trip and so relaxing!

Here are some photo highlights from day 1. On this day, I picked up my friend who lives about 30 minutes away. We got road coffees and then headed on the road. We got to Kent Island around 12:30pm and our first stop was a deli to pick up sandwiches for lunch. Then, we went to Sandy Point State Park, which has a swimming beach. This was a nice family friendly beach and we would’ve spent more time in the water except there was a lot of jellyfish! We had a nice couple hours here reading, chatting, and relaxing.

Then, we went to the hotel to check in, relax in the AC, and refresh ourselves before heading out for dinner. We walked around the marina and area around the hotel before walking to The Jetty for dinner. We got the bacon wrapped scallops in thai chili sauce as an app to share and they were so good! For my entree, I got the mahi mahi tacos. We had seen ahead of time that there was trivia on Monday nights there and we both love trivia so we played and we won first place! We headed back to the hotel and chatted and watched the new Anaconda movie til we fell asleep! Oh, also I got us matching “Camp Read-A-Lot tees to wear as pajamas from Inkwell Threads!
