    White & Gold Glitter Nails

Quick manicure post for you guys this evening. I did a gold and white look on my nails as it looked very fittingly wintery. Plus the combination of gold and white makes me think of new beginnings and as we’re still in January of the new year (albeit the end of January) it seemed like as good a time as any. I used OPI’s Alpine Snow as my base coat and then Essie’s Summit of Style for the gold glitter. I didn’t want it to look like a perfectly done half and half look – I wanted the uneven ombre-ish effect for the white into the gold glitter. I haven’t had the best…

    All Things Star Wars

I finally saw Star Wars: The Force Awakens! I know, I know, I’m probably the last person on Earth to see it. My friends and I had planned our Secret Santa get-together for January 2 and back in October or November decided it would be a good idea to follow up our gift exchange and lunch with the movie. At the time it seemed like a great idea, but once the movie was out it was torture knowing I wouldn’t be able to see it for another 3 weeks! It was so difficult to not click on any of the countless articles, spoilers, fan theories, etc. that began floating around the Internet and social…

    Christmas Polka Dot Nails

If you’ve been following me for a while, then you know I am no expert at nail art. Despite this, I still try with the hopes that practice makes perfect. Holidays are always a great opportunity to do something fun with your nails. Last year, I went with white polish and a red & green glitter polish on top. This year, I decided to go with something less bling-y and more simple. I used OPI’s “Red”, a green from Orly, OPI’s “Alpine Snow”, and a Revlon top coat. Now, if you’ve been following me for a while you might also remember my post about my failure to obtain nail dotting…

    Sparkling Grey Nails

You know what’s worse than a Monday? A Monday after a long weekend. I had a great 4-day weekend and definitely wish it wasn’t over so soon. Hopefully you all had a good weekend, long or regular, too! So last week I did my nails with the primary color being a Sephora by OPI color “Frankly, I Don’t Give A-Damn”. It’s a light grey, purple-y color. It’s more grey than purple, but I definitely can see some light purple undertones there in some lights. I decided I also wanted to incorporate an accent nail using Sally Hansen glitter polish, “Strobe Light”. The glitter was so pretty though that I decided…

    Fall Mani Inspiration

Fall Mani by lifeaccordingtojamie featuring photography wall art A few weeks ago Polyvore had a Fall Mani challenge and I found this beautiful manicure. I love every single color of this nail look and the gold gems are the perfect touch to up the wow factor to this mani. I tried to find nail polish shades that seemed to match the picture pretty well. ***** I recently tried out a different fall mani that did not turn out so well aka was a major fail, but in an effort to turn a negative into a positive I tried to salvage it and will still write all about it in…

    Nails: Dotted Tips

If you’ve been following me for a while you know I like to try to do simple nail art on my nails myself. “Try” being the operative word. I was pretty lazy with my nails all summer but towards the end of August I was inspired to try something new. And that something new was a super easy style with simple dots along the tips. I used Julie G’s “Shoe-A-Holic”, Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pen, and a Revlon top coat. This was super simple. I started with two coats of “Shoe-A-Holic”, but I really could’ve done with 3. Once that was dry, I dotted along the tips with…

    Glitter Strip Nails

It’s almost Memorial Day Weekend! This weekend is going to be so busy since I’ll be traveling and I’m sure it will fly by and I’ll be back to work before I know it. I did my nails yesterday since tonight I’ll be chaperoning prom and this weekend I’ll be at a wedding. I wanted to go with a neutral color because my dress tonight is an eggplant color (this is a re-wear which I’ll share how I styled it this time around, tomorrow) and my dress this weekend is black and white (that look will be up after the weekend). I decided on this pale pink polish, Essie’s “Ballet Slippers”,…

    Nail Dotting Tools…Or Lack Thereof

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you probably know that I’ve been trying to be more creative with my nail art. It’s a slow going process because my hands aren’t the steadiest when it comes to doing my nails. Anyway, in an attempt to try to help out this process I wanted to buy some nail dotting tools, which I’ve seen YouTubers and bloggers use before to help them create designs. I went on Amazon and ordered a set of different sized dotting tools and the picture looked pretty cute too. They were only a few dollars, so I was sold. The estimated shipping was a while…

    Rediscovered: Crackle Nails

A few weeks ago, I was going through my nail polish and decided to use my Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat because I hadn’t used it in ages. I’m not even sure if it’s still available to buy, but it creates a cool effect on the nails. First, you paint your nails with another polish. Once that dries, you put the Crackle Overcoat on. It’s pretty cool to watch because as you paint it on you can see it cracking and shrinking to form this cracked design on your nails. It’s not exactly a polished look (see what I did there? 😉 ) but it is something different and a little…

    Jelly Sandwich Nails

Have you ever done a jelly sandwich manicure? This is my first go of it. The first time I ever heard of jelly sandwich nails was a few years ago on one of YouTuber Holly Ann Aeree’s DIY nail videos. I was recently reminded of it when I was looking at some nail pictures online and seeing as it’s a really easy look to achieve, I figured it was right up my alley. Essentially, jelly sandwich is when you put a base coat of a nail polish on, then a sparkle layer, and then another layer of that first nail polish color again so the sparkle layer is sandwiched in…
