    Black & Purple X Nails

The other night I did my nails as my way of decompressing and relaxing for the night. I decided I wanted to play around with my nail striping tape some more. Originally, I wanted to do a double v with the tape, but I was getting frustrated with trying to place the tape in the v-shape and getting the tape angled correctly. So I gave up on that (for now, I’ll try again another time!) and just made x’s with the tape I had already cut out for the v’s. I painted my thumbs and pinkies black using “Knockout” from Revlon. I painted my pointer, middle, and ring fingers purple with…

    Snowman Winter Nails

This post ended up being perfectly timed. I painted my nails a few nights ago and I was thinking that when I posted the pictures on here I would write about how much I wanted a snow day especially since other than a few dustings and an inch here and there we hadn’t had any real snow this year. Well my wish came true because we have a snow day today! It’s crazy because just yesterday it was 60 degrees and felt like spring. It was a beautiful day. Now we’re back to winter and we’re supposed to get 10-15 inches of snow today! Anyway, back to my nails. I…

    Christmas Nails: Stripes & Confetti

It’s my first day of my holiday break and, of course, I’m sick with a cold! I woke up yesterday all congested and was able to get through the work day with some sniffles but otherwise surviving. But as soon as I got home I was blowing my nose every 5 minutes and sitting next to a tissue box. I’m hoping it passes quickly because I don’t want to be sick on my days off! I guess it was only a matter of time because I’ve been so busy with work that my body was bound to give out by the end of the year. Onto happier news – I’m…

    Leaf Nail Design

For a while I had plans to share a fall nail look on the blog. I found a leaf design in my nail stamping kit that looked cute and so that was my plan. Well, that did not work out as planned. I had all my materials all set up and I even took this picture of what I would be using: My original plan was to paint my nails red with this Sephora Formula X polish in the shade “Fiery” and then on one or two accent nails stamp on the leaf design in a gold polish. Lo and behold the gold polish did not work. Every time I…

Halloween Nails: Purple Glitter + Spooky Eyes

Halloween is just a few days away so I wanted to try to do a festive nail look. Naturally, I went to Pinterest to see what easy nail styles I could find. “Easy” being the key word. I found a bunch of pictures of “spooky night time eyes” which reminded me of cartoon-like eyes in the dark. You know those old-time cartoons where the scene is supposed to be a dark room and all you see are the eyeballs. So now that I had picked out the easy Halloween nail style, I wondered whether having these eyes on each one of my nails was too much. What I ultimately decided to…

Nail Stamping: Geometric T’s & Crosses

You may have seen a glimpse of my nails in yesterday’s Rocksbox post so I’m here today to give you some more details on it! Over the weekend, I painted my nails with Essie’s Sunday Funday polish a bright coral color. I wanted to break out my nail stamping plates again and try out another pattern. Click here for a look at my first attempt using the stamping kit. I chose to use a white polish (OPI’s Alpine Snow) and a geometric T and cross pattern. Top: Nordstrom Rack | Sunglasses: Quay Australia The stamp didn’t come out as crisp and clean as I had hoped but it could’ve been the polish…

    Nail Stamping – First Try

In recent months I have started to see blog and Instagram posts about nail stamping plates and was incredibly intrigued once I saw my blog buddy Karen from Confetti & Curves share a tutorial . At the start of the summer, I ordered my own nail stamping plates (from the brand Pueen) from Amazon for less than $20, which I think is an amazing deal as it comes with 25 plates and 150 images! Luckily, I thought to order the rubber stamper and scraper because I thought to myself that it might be handy to have extras. Well, good thing I did because the stamping plates did not come with a…

    Reverse Accent Nails

Normally an accent nail in a manicure involves one nail that has a design, glitter, a gem, or something that makes it a little more fancy than the other nails. Well, for this nail look I decided to do the reverse. I used a glitter polish on all my nails except my ring fingers. First, I painted all my nails, except my ring fingers, with Essie’s  “All Access Pass” and then topped it off with Sally Hansen’s “Grape Shifter”. On my ring fingers, I used “Bamboo White” from the Victoria Beckham collaboration with Nails Inc. It has white in the name, but it’s really a very pale pink, which worked perfectly with the blue toned…

    Turquoise Heart Nails

Happy Thursday! We’re almost at the weekend. It’s been a crazy busy week at work with no time to breathe basically. It didn’t help that on Tuesday, I got stuck at work because my car wouldn’t start! So thankful for AAA Roadside Assistance for getting my car fixed up. I got home about an hour and a half later than usual, but I guess it could’ve been worse. By the way, thanks for all the support I got from yesterday’s post about my YouTube channel! If you haven’t yet, please check it out – I would be so grateful! I have a quick post for you today. I did a simple…

    Pastel Nails

Pastel Nails by lifeaccordingtojamie featuring pastel pencils Happy Easter Weekend to all of you who celebrate! When I think of Easter, I think of pretty pastel, ruffly dresses and Easter hats from my and I’m sure many others’ childhoods. Pastels and Easter/Spring go hand in hand so it’s only natural that pastel nail art and manicures would be popular. ***** I love this pastel manicure I found on Polyvore and I rounded up some items that would help to recreate the look. I absolutely love this nail look I found. The colors, stripes, hearts, and studs/gems are all fab. If I had all these colors, I might try to recreate…
