Alaska OOTN Lookbook
I can’t believe we’re halfway through July already. Summer seriously needs to slow down!
I hope you enjoyed my two food posts from my recent vacation (here and here). Maybe now you can see why I’ve been eating more salads than usual this week! Okay so yesterday’s salad was from Chick-Fil-A but it’s still a salad!
Today, I’m talking about some of my vacation fashion. On the cruise, we went to our assigned sit-down dining room each night for dinner. The dress code at the sit-down dining rooms on our ship were 2 formal nights and the other nights were smart casual, except for the first night on the ship because with everyone trying to board the ship and the mandatory muster call (an info session about what to do on the ship if there’s an emergency etc.) they knew people would not have time to dress up before dinner.
I saw a whole range of “dressiness” from men wearing just a polo and jeans to tuxedos. Similarly for women, I saw blouses and pants to evening gowns. I chose to bring pieces with me that I could dress up or down – that neither looked too casual nor too formal. So here is my lookbook of what I wore to dinner on the cruise ship!
Dress: Apt.9 via Kohl’s | Cardigan: JCrew Factory | Shoes: DSW | Earrings: Express
Sunday night was the first formal night and I love this abstract print laser cut fit & flare dress! It fits perfectly and is so comfortable. The laser cut design at the neck and hem are a fun detail to the dress and help set it apart. I love this dress and it doesn’t hurt that the fabric is so smooth to the touch. I know you can’t see my earrings in the picture but they are silver hoops of a small/medium size.
Jumpsuit: American Eagle | Sweater: American Eagle
I wore this jumpsuit back in the fall to a baby shower and decided to pack not just one but two jumpsuits on this trip. Why? Because they are so easy to pack and can easily be dressed up or down.
Top: LOFT | Cardigan: LOFT | Jeans: LOFT | Necklace: Pac Sun
This outfit was a quick last minute thing I put together and the necklace really saved the day. On this day, I got back from the Takshanuk Mountain Trail 4×4 excursion I went on just 10 minutes before our dinner reservation so to say I was rushing around like a mad woman is not an exaggeration. Most of my family weren’t going to change because they felt they were dressed well enough for dinner and there wasn’t time. But, you know me! I was not going to let an opportunity to dress up a bit pass me by! I skipped out on what I was planning to wear because I had no time to put that together and I pulled this berry colored top out of my suitcase, which I forgot I brought! Thank goodness for staple pieces! Paired it with black jeans, and a cardigan (because this is Alaska, it is chilly!). Before running out the door, I decided to dig through my little jewelry bag and put this necklace on to dress up the look. And voila!
Dress: Express
If I were in a warmer climate, I would’ve worn this dress without the cardigan to show off the cutouts in the back, but alas we weren’t. I love how basic but pretty this green dress. It was classic enough to wear to the second and final formal night of the cruise. I wanted to wear gold hoops I have that are two hoops intertwined with each other but I was running out of time to get ready and I couldn’t get them in. Don’t you hate when you can’t get your earrings in and then you just get flustered? Does that happen to anybody else?
Top: Express | Jeans: LOFT | Sandals: Steven Madden via DSW
I bought this sequin embellished tank top at the end of last summer on sale at Express and finally got to wear it! It is loose fitting and if it weren’t so long I think it would work perfectly for a night out with black shorts. Maybe I could do that trendy half tucked in look. I’ve tried to do that before but it just looks weird on me. Maybe I don’t know how to do it properly.
Jumpsuit: LOFT
This black jumpsuit was the other jumpsuit I brought on the trip. I knew this all-black jumpsuit would be a fabulous look for dinner especially paired with this colorful necklace to really pop and add some color. I don’t remember if this necklace is from LOFT or JCrew Factory, but it’s from one of the two. As you can see it was a pretty windy day that day, hence my hair flying all funnily in the second photo! I also love that you can see some of my purple hair which kinda goes perfectly with the colors my necklace is showing off.
I honestly like all the looks I wore for my OOTN’s. The jumpsuits were probably the most comfortable seeing as how I was eating so much at dinner every night!

Your style is super cute. I love jumpsuits, colorful jewelry and cardigans, the purple in your hair looks great too, I’ve had purple hair before and I liked it.
