Christkindlmarkt in Bethlehem
Last weekend was Thanksgiving weekend which, if you read my post yesterday, then you know means I immediately switched into Christmas gear the day after Thanksgiving. So the Saturday after Thanksgiving I met up with my friend to see Fantastic Beasts (which I wrote about here) and then check out the Christmas Market or Christkindlmarkt (I won’t even try to pronounce that) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Pretty fitting town name for a Christmas market, right? A friend of mine had lived in Bethlehem for a year a while ago and had always told me that the town goes all out for Christmas and at the SteelStacks they do a Christmas market so I wanted to finally check it out.
My friend Kate, who I met up with, now lives out in Pennsylvania, about 100 miles away from me and we discovered that Bethlehem is about halfway between us so it was the perfect place to meet up!
Follow my time there by watching the short video below and my pictures below that! Sorry in advance that the video is a bit shakier than usual this time around!
SteelStacks is the former home plant of Bethlehem Steel and is now a 10 acre campus dedicated to arts, music, culture, etc. I remember going to a concert here a number of years ago when my friend lived in Bethlehem. It’s pretty cool to see the beautiful Christmas decorations and lights with the steel stacks in the background. A nice juxtaposition if you will. My friend Kate and I went to college/grad school together to be English teachers so we both said juxtaposition at the same time when we were there talking about the contrast! Great minds.
The Christmas Market was really cute and although I didn’t buy anything other than food it was a nice way to kick off the holiday season!
