Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017
Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a wonderful time doing whatever you wanted to ring in the new year. Whether it was staying at home or going all out with a night out on the town dressed to the nines, I hope you enjoyed it! This year I spent New Year’s Eve with a low key night at my friends’ house just hanging out and playing games. I wrote yesterday about how 2016 had its highs and lows and I am definitely ready to move on to a new year.
So I’m literally saying goodbye to 2016…
Sweater: J.Crew Factory
and ringing in the new year with champagne and good wishes!
I’m never one to make resolutions like losing weight or giving up something. I usually just hope for big things to happen. I am determined to make things happen in 2017. I want to continue growing this blog and it has definitely grown a lot since I first started it 2.5 years ago, but I definitely want to branch out even more. I’ve made it no secret that I don’t know if I see myself teaching forever. Of course for the foreseeable future I will be teaching full time, but I still don’t think it’s going to be my forever career. I do love working with kids and teaching literature but I don’t necessarily have a passion for it and I think life is too short to spend a majority of your time doing something you’re not passionate about. So what am I passionate about? Well, I’m passionate about writing and this blog and all the artistic things that go along with it. I love everything lifestyle – so food, home decor, travel, beauty, fashion, etc. I love books and movies and TV and the artistry that goes into all those things. So 2017 is going to be about exploring those facets even more than now and seeing what I want to really pursue because I want to look back on my life decades from now and feel like I’ve lived a full life and not just one that I was complacent with.
So if any of you have any ideas/tips for me in this adventure of mine, please do share! I can use all the help I can get!
I’m going to end this post with two quotes. One is on my 2017 blog planner I bought from an Etsy shop called Makewells. It’s all ready to be filled out with post ideas and reminders and all things blog related. I just adore the cover and the Shakespeare quote which I think is the perfect quote for me!
“Though she be but little, she is fierce.”
The 2nd quote is from Robert M. Drake.
“She was a beautiful dreamer. The kind of girl, who kept her head in the clouds, loved above the stars and left regret beneath the earth she walked on.”
I think both of these quotes really encapsulate my dreams for 2017.
With that, I wish you all a happy and healthy 2017. May all your dreams come true!

I so agree with you! If you are able to make your passion your career, then I say go for it! And I love your blog planner! One of my favorite people in the world just gave me a necklace with that quote on it, and I plan to make it my mantra right along with you this year!

It’s a great mantra to begin the year with! Yes! Life’s too short to not do what you love. Now I just need to figure out how to go about this…lol

I recommend joining a Facebook group or two if you haven’t already!. It’s been so helpful for me and I’ve met some great people to collaborate with so far. They also are really nice about answering any questions you have about blogging.
