Top of the Rock

Happy Friday! If you follow my Instastories then you may have seen that last Friday I went into the city with my cousins who were visiting and we went to the Top of the Rock. Growing up just 45 minutes from New York City, I’ve fallen into that all too common situation where I haven’t done many of the touristy things the city offers. Sure, I’ve visited Central Park, the Museum of Natural History, and the MET numerous times as well as seen multiple Broadway shows, but I’ve never been to the Statue of Liberty or Empire State Building. In fact, aside from being on a plane flying over the city leaving or coming back to New Jersey, I’ve never seen a view of the city from up high.

So we decided to get tickets to go to the Top of the Rock, which is the observation deck at the top of Rockefeller Center, where NBC is. We were lucky and had clear skies and amazing views that day. It was a scorcher of a day with temperatures in the mid 90s and high humidity but the beautiful views made us forget about the heat for a little bit!

The Top of the Rock offers spectacular views of Central Park and Manhattan’s downtown and midtown skyscrapers. There are 3 observation levels. When you first get off the elevator you can get indoor views. Then you take an escalator up to the next level which is all outdoors but has a glass enclosure. Lastly, you can go up the short staircase to the top deck, the 70th floor, for a glass-free view.

It was a great day! I hope you enjoy my video of the views!
