Birthday Flowers
Today is my birthday and to tell you the truth, in recent years I have not felt like making a big deal out of my birthday. I don’t love the idea of getting another year older. For my birthday this year I hung out with friends yesterday to do a belated celebration for a friend, an early celebration for me, and a really belated celebration for a few other friends who had birthdays in the past 1-2 months but were unable to celebrate due to lockdown. We went to Top Golf in the morning and I actually wasn’t too bad! Then, we hung out for the rest of the day. Today, I’m planning on running some errands (grocery shopping) and relaxing at my parents’ house for a low key afternoon. Maybe bake a cake. Tonight is dinner with family.
When I look back on the past year, a lot has changed. For one, I’m living somewhere different than I was last birthday. Two, we’re in the middle of a global pandemic and this past spring and summer have been nowhere near the norm. I didn’t go on vacation like I normally do. Spending time with friends has barely happened. It’s just been a strange year. Three, a year ago I didn’t know I’d actually be pursuing writing. So let’s see what the next year has in store for me! Hopefully more good things.
Anyway, I was thinking of what kind of photo I wanted to share for my birthday and while I was brainstorming a photo came up on my Instagram feed from Aerie and it was a girl covering her face with a bouquet of flowers. She was only wearing lacy underwear, which obviously I wasn’t going to do, but I liked the concept of the flowers in front of my face. I already had plans to wear this navy floral romper one day soon so I had it pulled out on my garment rack. I actually wore this romper for my birthday dinner with friends last year but since this year has been a wash I’m not counting it as a real year so I’m wearing it again for my birthday picture!

I like the way the photo turned out! I hope you all have a great Sunday. I’ll be here hoping to enjoy being another year older!
