Modilize Launch Party
Happy Wednesday! This week has been so busy that it feels much later in the week than Wednesday, but at least we’re one day closer to the weekend. So last Saturday during New York Fashion Week (NYFW) I went in to the city for theΒ Modilize Launch Party. Modilize is a soon to be released app for online shopping that is going to streamline the shopping experience for women. I’m excited for it to officially launch! In the meantime though, I had a great time at their NYFW launch party. I arrived in the city about an hour before the event started, so I walked around the neighborhood a little and…

Downton Abbey Exhibit & NYC at Christmas
I love New York City at Christmas time. Every street is decorated and everything looks beautiful and magical. When I saw that the Downton Abbey – The Exhibition was going to be in New York I had to go and the fact that it was during the holiday season made it even more enticing. As luck would have it, it was a snowy day when I went two weekends ago making Christmas-time in the city even more magical. Before I share photos of the Christmas prettiness in the city, let me tell you briefly about the exhibit. If you are/were a fan of the show, the exhibit is such an…

#PostalCodePride in NYC
I grew up in New Jersey, about 45 minutes from New York City. I like where I grew up and for the most part still like the area being less than an hour away from the city in one direction and the beach in another. But when I think of tourist destinations I don’t think of my suburban town but instead of my birthplace, New York City! Not only was I born there, but my mom grew up there, my parents were married there, and my dad still commutes into the city for work every day. All that combined with the fact that I’ve spent my whole life going in…

Dutch Fred’s
I recently went into the city with my cousins who were visiting (see my Top of the Rock post here). My cousin found a great restaurant for us to check out for lunch, Dutch Fred’s, in the theater district. They specialize in small plates and have Broadway themed cocktails. With that in mind, we ordered a few things to share and we were not disappointed! We ordered theΒ poutine, of course with my cousins originally being from Canada they wanted to try it out. It is not on the lunch menu, but my cousin had seen it on one of their menus online I think and they were kind enough to…

Top of the Rock
Happy Friday! If you follow my InstastoriesΒ then you may have seen that last Friday I went into the city with my cousins who were visiting and we went to the Top of the Rock.Β Growing up just 45 minutes from New York City, I’ve fallen into that all too common situation where I haven’t done many of the touristy things the city offers. Sure, I’ve visited Central Park, the Museum of Natural History, and the MET numerous times as well as seen multiple Broadway shows, but I’ve never been to the Statue of Liberty or Empire State Building. In fact, aside from being on a plane flying over the city leaving…

Photo Challenge: Surprise
When I saw last week that the photo challenge from The Daily Post was “Surprise” I really couldn’t think of what to use for my photo. I seriously was wracking my brain trying to find a photo or think of a photo to take that might fit the prompt. Then, last weekend I was in the city to seeΒ Anastasia on Broadway. Before the show I went to lunch at BareburgerΒ and shortly before arriving at the restaurant I saw some sidewalk art that made me stop in my tracks to get a picture. This sidewalk art can be found in spots throughout New York City and New Jersey and I find…

Photo Challenge: Frame
I survived my first week back at work! After I get through today, that is. My classroom is just about ready. I need to fine tune my plans for next week and my syllabi and I’ll be ready. Well, ready on paper, but notΒ really ready to officially say goodbye to summer. For this past week’s photo challenge, The Daily Post, posed the question “how [does] the world frame itself?” It challenged participants to take a step back from framing a picture through our lens and see natural frames or view “frames” in a different way. I quickly thought of a picture I took back in June when I was in…
