Dutch Fred’s
I recently went into the city with my cousins who were visiting (see my Top of the Rock post here). My cousin found a great restaurant for us to check out for lunch, Dutch Fred’s, in the theater district. They specialize in small plates and have Broadway themed cocktails. With that in mind, we ordered a few things to share and we were not disappointed!
We ordered theΒ poutine, of course with my cousins originally being from Canada they wanted to try it out. It is not on the lunch menu, but my cousin had seen it on one of their menus online I think and they were kind enough to make it for us. The fries were perfect.
We also ordered theΒ Thai Deviled Eggs which were deviled eggs on curried toast with creme fraiche, radish, and sriracha. These were yummy and definitely had a little kick to them.
TheΒ Pork Belly Tostadas might have been my favorite small plate we ordered. Caramelized pork belly and avocado habanero on tostada. So tasty and the pork belly really just melts in your mouth.
Lastly, we got theΒ Mediterranean Mezze which came with some veggies and pita bread with different dips. Roasted red pepper hummus, sundried tomato dip, tzatziki, and kalamata olives and cheese.I think my favorite of these was the roasted red pepper hummus.
The food was delicious and definitely hit the spot after walking around in the sweltering heat that day – something yummy but not too heavy.
