Floral Smocked Waist Midi
There’s something about this dress that just makes me think of the 70s. Maybe it’s the color or the floral print or the cut & fit of it. It reminds me of something I’d find in my mom’s closet from when she worked in an office in the 70s and 80s. In fact, I’m certain she had similar dresses in her closet that when I was a kid in the 90s would dress up in when playing around the house. But whatever it is about it that reminds me of the 70s, I love it!
I wore this dress to work last month with cream knit tights and burgundy sock boots.
Dress: Express| Tights: American Eagle | Boots: Unisa via DSW (here) | Watch: Oliva Burton
These sock booties are so comfortable. They’re the perfect winter boot with it’s faux suede material and burgundy color and I loved pairing them with this dress. I’m definitely going to be wearing them a lot this winter. You’ll be seeing them again for sure in a few days when I share look #1 from my winter photoshoot.
I’ve really grown to love midi length dresses and skirts this year so this dress was perfect for me for work. The long sleeves is a great touch for the cold weather, but because they’re sheer I’ll probably want to wear it only on mild weather days. The faux buttons and button loops that line the v-neck are the perfect detail and touch. It draws some attention to the neckline in a flattering way and wearing a camisole or tank top underneath ensures that the dress isn’t too revealing especially for work.
Speaking of work – just 4 more work days until winter break, Christmas, and my vacation! If you follow me on social media you might already know where I’m going as I may have mentioned it at some point. In any case, all will be revealed Christmas week and I’ll be keeping a travel diary on here as usual as well as documenting things on Instagram and instastories!
