Royal Wedding: Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Recap
Did you watch the Royal Wedding yesterday? The coverage started here on the east coast at 5am and I did not wake up that early, but I did wake up at 7:30 and watched from the beginning of what I recorded. Since I could fast forward, I was able to skip over some of the boring parts. I mostly wanted to just see the people arriving and pick out all the famous people, and then of course all the wedding stuff with the royals like their arrivals and the ceremony.
After the wedding was over, I immediately began rounding up photos to recap the wedding. Before I get in to all that – I want to preface my recap by saying that I thought the wedding was absolutely beautiful. It truly was like a real life fairy tale. While I’ve heard a lot of different opinions on Meghan’s wedding gown, I have to say it was classic and timeless. No, it wasn’t my favorite and I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. I definitely think it’s the kind of timeless dress that would look good in any era and Meghan can look back on and still love the dress and not cringe at the “fad” she took part in. Although it did slightly underwhelm me, I still think she looked beautiful and so happy. And how sweet was it that Prince Harry was tearing up when he saw her walking in! And seriously, when Meghan walked in and the soprano singer was singing it seriously looked heavenly and ethereal. Absolutely stunning.
Okay, let’s recap in photos now!
First, all the guests arrived including celebrities and members of the royal family. 4 of my favorite looks were Amal Clooney, Pippa Middleton, Victoria Beckham, and Lady Kitty Spencer (cousin to the groom). And of course I have to include Kate Middleton because she can never do any wrong in my eyes! And her Alexander McQueen coat dress is actually a re-wear! Also, can we talk about how beautiful their fascinators are? I love each of these actually. I saw a few that were way too much and out there, but I really do love all of the ones from my best dressed list.

A while later, we saw Prince Harry accompanied by his brother and best man, Prince William, walk in to the church. They looked so handsome in their military uniforms!

Then, we finally saw Meghan and her mother in a beautiful vintage Rolls Royce lent to them by the Queen, drive over from their hotel to St. George’s Chapel.

Somewhere on the grounds of Windsor Castle, Meghan’s mother switched in to a different car so she could arrive on her own at the chapel and Meghan arrived at the same time as her little bridal party. The kids were all so adorable and Princess Charlotte stole the show, naturally! The twin sons of Meghan’s best friend held her veil and Meghan entered the church followed by her little bridesmaids and page boys. Halfway down the long aisle, Prince Charles walked Meghan down the aisle.

The ceremony was beautiful and you could see how in love the couple are, which was really sweet to see. My favorite part was Meghan walking in. As mentioned above, her walking in all in white, and with a 16 foot veil/train, to the live string music and soprano singing it looked heavenly. My second favorite part was when the choir sang “Stand By Me”. It was such a heartfelt and beautiful rendition!
After much speculation about what designer Meghan would go with and what style the dress would be, Meghan went with Givenchy. Givenchy is a french house, but the designer is Claire Waight Keller who is British. She wore a 3/4 sleeve gown with a boat neck. The stunning veil was hand embroidered with flowers representing the flowers of the counties of the kingdom and one poppy for Meghan’s home state of California. I love intricate details!

After they were officially married, they headed out and kissed on the steps of the chapel before getting in their horse drawn carriage for a ride around town and back to Windsor Castle for their lunch reception hosted by Queen Elizabeth.

The royal family waved to them as they drove off and George and Charlotte looked super cute as always. George looked shy again, just like when he went to the hospital was baby brother Louis was born. But, Charlotte was soaking up the attention!

The guests all went to the lunch reception at St. George’s Hall where they feasted on all sorts of delicious food (the menu was released and looked divine) and the lemon and elderflower wedding cake.
A few hours later, Prince Harry & Meghan Markle, or now the Duke & Duchess of Sussex, left Windsor Castle for Frogmore house. There they celebrated with a more intimate evening reception hosted by Prince Charles. Prince Harry changed in to a tuxedo and Meghan changed in to a Stella McCartney halter gown. The evening gown is definitely sexier than her wedding gown which was very modest. The Stella McCartney gown is stunning and definitely a dress to dance in!
I loved everything about the Royal Wedding and wish it wasn’t over! I do look forward to rounding up some Meghan Markle outfits when she does royal tours like I do with Kate Middleton.
If you watched, what did you think of everything?
