Cute Halloween Movies

So if you know me, you know I do not like being scared. I don’t like scary or creepy movies. That also means I don’t like scary, creepy Halloween costumes. I don’t hate Halloween, but it’s definitely not my favorite holiday. As a kid, I loved picking out a costume, going trick or treating, etc. But, I was the kid who always dressed up as something fun and cute like a princess, fairy, angel etc. I like the cute, whimsical version of Halloween. I don’t like the bloody, gory version. Costumes that involve fake blood? No thanks. Painting your face to look like a corpse or zombie? Nope.

Since I don’t really like scary movies, I thought I would round up a few Halloween themed movies that are cute, not scary!

These are all oldies but goodies.

  1. Hocus Pocus

Of course Hocus Pocus has to be on the list! It’s a classic, funny, and will get you in the Halloween spirit. It’s been playing a lot on TV lately, so you might be able to catch it again before Halloween.

2. Halloweentown

Who remembers Halloweentown? I loved this show on the Disney Channel when I was growing up. It was so cool how she could go between two worlds.

3. Double Double Toil and Trouble

Okay, I loved this movie when I was little. MaryKate and Ashley movies were everything back then and this was one of the really good ones!

4. The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas

I never know whether to count this for Christmas or Halloween, but let’s go with Halloween. It’s a classic and something different. I remember when I was in 4th grade my teacher played it for our Halloween party, but some students weren’t allowed to watch because their parents wouldn’t let them so they had to go to another classroom during the movie!

5. Casper

Casper

Loved this movie when I was little as well! Christina Ricci was one of my favs when I was little and honestly one of the reasons I watched this movie back then is because of Devon Sawa.

Besides Hocus Pocus, which I recently saw bits of on tv, I haven’t seen any of these movies in a long time. It’s been so long that I don’t remember everything about them, but I do know that they’re cute and that I loved them as a kid. I’m fairly certain I would love all these as an adult as well just purely because of nostalgia and because they’re the kind of Halloween movies I do like. These were just the first 5 that came to mind, but I’m really going to try to think of others!

Do you know any other cute Halloween movies?

Yeah I’m kind of the opposite. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I go to Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens every year. I’m not big on horror movies though. But I did catch Trick R Treat on cable this past week and it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. It had dark comedy elements, which helped balance things out. Usually on Halloween I watch Rocky Horror & Phantom of the Paradise.
