January 2019 Favorites

This month has both felt like it’s flown by and dragged on. I can’t believe it’s the last day of January, but at the same time the holidays and winter break feels like ages ago. Anyone else feel that way?

As with the end of every month, I’m sharing my monthly favorites today. Let’s get started!

First off,Β Outlander came back for season 4 back in November, but I didn’t catch up until this month. I’m still 3 episodes behind, but the season finale has just aired over the weekend. Now I need to decide if I want to hurry and watch those 3 episodes or if I want to savor them since it could be a while before season 5 premiers. It’s been my favorite show to watch this month!

Next, I love fuzzy socks. They are so comfortable and cozy. And with how cold my feet always get, fuzzy socks are my go-to for around the house. A few years ago I got a pair of fuzzy socks from Bath & Body Works. They are polar bears wearing Christmas lights and are super cute. So when I was at Bath & Body Works one day and saw these mermaid ones I had to have them. I knew, already, that they’d be really warm and comfortable and the cuteness level was just too good to pass up.

Okay, now I have a few food favorites for January. I eat a lot of fruit. It was a habit my parents instilled in me since I was little. Besides snacking on fruit during the day, my dad would cut up fruit every night after dinner. Whether it was an apple, asian pear, clementines, plums, whatever – we always ate fruit every night. So today, I still eat a lot of fruit and I always bring fruit with me in my lunchbox to work. I’ve been lovingΒ pomegranate seeds lately and I buy them already ready to eat from the supermarket. I just put some in to a little container and bring a spoon with me and snack on them during my breaks at work.

My next food favorite are theΒ Cape Gourmet – Breaded Flounder Filets. They are so good! I bought a bag from the supermarket a few weeks ago and ate a filet for dinner last week. It was so good that I wish I had put 2 filets in the oven for dinner! The breading tastes like mozzarella stick breading. It’s so easy to make and so tasty.

My last food favorite is the pappardelleΒ from Wegman’s. I bought a pack last week and made it with my mom’s homemade bolognese sauce. It was so yummy and I took the leftovers to work and ate it all!

My favorite book this month, and lately, wasΒ Michelle Obama’s bookΒ Becoming. I wrote a full blog post on it (here), but long story short – I loved it!

Lastly, this isn’t really a favorite but it’s something cool that happened to me this month. A local magazine –Β The Journal NJ – featured me on their social media for one of their fashion Fridays. It was so cool! I still find it mind boggling that people follow me on here and on social media so for The Journal NJ to have found me and then reach out to feature me is pretty awesome.

That wraps up my January favorites. I hope all of you had a great January and are ready for the next month!
