It simply goes without saying that everyone wants to feel their best, all things considered, and many of us are willing to go to some pretty remarkable lengths in order to make that happen.
All sorts of supplements and pharmaceuticals are sold in massive quantities, on an annual basis, and all around the world, precisely in order to help people feel more energetic, happier, and more content with their lives.
All the same, if you were to do an objective analysis of the kinds of things that might actually be ruining your quality of life, it would be difficult – if not impossible – to avoid the fact that poor quality sleep is often at the heart of things.
If you feel that a lack of adequate sleep may be ruining your life to some degree, here are some things you can do about that in order to get on the path to recovery and improvement.
-
Try switching up your sleeping position and changing the amount of ventilation your room
Sleep apnoea is a major concern for many people, and occurs when the airways become blocked temporarily during a night’s sleep. As a consequence of this, people who suffer the condition will experience many “micro-awakenings” during the night, often without noticing it, and their sleep quality will consequently be ruined.
People who have sleep apnea often, but not always, snore, and another tell-tale sign of the condition is waking up after a full night’s sleep and feeling exhausted, on a regular basis.
The thing is – certain external factors can influence the degree to which you experience sleep apnoea. Sleep on your back, for example, makes it much more likely you will suffer the condition – whereas sleeping on your side is thought to be optimal for avoiding it.
Whether or not your windows are open can also have some impact on how easily you breathe.

Go in for official, medical sleep testing
Sleep can go wrong in a lot of ways, and it’s not always easy to self diagnose what the problem might be.
If you suspect that your sleep is disrupted somehow, consider booking an appointment with a professional sleep consultant, and having your sleep assessed in a scientific sleep laboratory.
A test of this sort can tell you whether you need a CPAP mask in order to get a better night’s rest, or whether there are certain other lifestyle factors that should be adjusted.
Then again, a test might find your sleep is actually pretty good, but that you do not allow yourself enough time in bed.

Modify your evening routine and reset your lighting
Our circadian rhythms are fundamentally affected by the amount of light we’re exposed to throughout the day, at different times.
To cut a long story short, bright light signals to your body that it’s daytime, and darkness (or at least relative darkness) suggest that it’s night.
By modifying your evening routine, and reducing bright lights at night, it’s often possible to radically improve your sleep in a very short space of time.
Of course, modifying your bedroom environment can sometimes work wonders, too. It’s useful, for example, to know that Tencel bedding containing lyocell fibers enhancing your quality of sleep.
