August 2020 Favorites

It’s been a really weird summer and I can’t believe tomorrow is already September. For a summer that I could hardly do anything, it still flew by. Before I get into the few things I picked out for my August favorites, I wanted to remind you that I’m running a book giveaway and it’s open until Wednesday! First, I have always loved Swedish Fish and have been snacking on them like crazy in August. I love chewy/gummy candies, but I’m not a huge sweets person so for me to be eating these a lot this month means I have to include it in my favorites.

Did you watch Perry Mason on HBO? I was really into it and I’m happy it got picked up for a 2nd season. I never watched the original series, but I love this dark, slow rendition of the original. My mom told me that in the original Perry Mason is already an established lawyer. This version is sort of an origin story, because it starts out with Perry being a private investigator after coming home from World War I.

Keeping with the entertainment theme, my next favorite is the Umbrella Academy Playlist on Spotify. I wrote last month, I think, about how I binge watched the first 2 seasons and loved it. The music is so good in the show and they find the most fitting music for each episode. I love the playlist I found on Spotify of music from the two seasons.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you may have seen that NBC/MSNBC reached out to me for interviews about schools reopening. I’m a teacher for any of you who are new here and didn’t know that! It was really cool. I was interviewed once for a print article and then they reached out again asking me to record a short video diary. Here’s the link to the article, if you want to check it out!

My last favorite is my floral embroidered and tulle face mask. It’s so pretty and a nice way to look a little cuter/fancier when you’re wearing your face mask out in public. This one is from Baublebar and is so cute. It has the normal pleated cloth material for the mask and then a layer of tulle on top of that with the flowers embroidered onto the tulle. It’s got adjustable ear loops too.
