Lava Cake
Where are my fellow chocolate lovers? I love chocolate, but I’m not chocolate obsessed. I prefer chocolate to candy, but I can’t eat a lot of it at once. I saw this easy lava cake recipe via Pinterest recently and thought it would be fun to try. Plus, it would be a great winter and/or Valentine’s dessert idea.
I followed the recipe, which was easy to follow and the cakes were delicious especially with some vanilla ice cream!
For this recipe you’ll need:
- butter
- semi-sweet baking chocolate
- powdered sugar
- whole eggs
- egg yolks
- all purpose flour
As I mentioned above, I followed the recipe I found exactly, which made enough for 4 small cakes (ramekin sized).
In a microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate and butter together and mix until no lumps remain, about a minute. Add in the powdered sugar and stir. Then, add in the whole eggs and egg yolks and stir to combine. Next, add in the flour and mix to combine.
Grease your ramekins with butter and pour the batter in evenly. Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake at 425 for 12-13 minutes. You want the edges to be set, but the center to be soft and not too jiggly. I set my timer for 12 minutes and took 2 of the ramekins out and put the other 2 back in for another minute.
When you remove the ramekins from the oven, let them set for 2 minutes before removing the cakes. I ended up turning them over because I thought they looked prettier that way.

Have your lava cake with ice cream or whipped cream and some fresh fruit and enjoy!
