Book Review: Tales of the Celestial Kingdom

Happy Lunar New Year to all who celebrate! In honor of the holiday I wanted to share Tales of the Celestial Kingdom by Sue Lynn Tan. The book is a collection of short stories set in the world of her duology for Daughter of the Moon Goddess and Heart of the Sun Warrior.

I really enjoyed all the stories told before, during, and after the original two books. My favorites were the story about Xingyin’s parents (though this one was a bit sad!) and the epilogue for Xingyin and Wenzhi. This book is worth it for the epilogue alone! It is still bittersweet since I also liked Liwei, but this epilogue really gave a lot of closure to the series.

If you’ve read the original duology then I recommend reading this book for some more insight into these beloved character!
