Book Review: Imagine Me

Imagine Me by Tahereh Mafi is the last full length novel in the Shatter Me series. I finished it this week and have some thoughts! This does contain spoilers!

Imagine Me picks up around where Reveal Me ended. Juliette, Aaron, Kenji, and most of their friends have found some safety in the Sanctuary, but it doesn’t last long before Anderson and The Reestablishment find them. After a battle, Juliette is taken and the rest of the novel follows Aaron, Kenji, and Nazeera trying to rescue her.

Some spoilers below.

So I liked being back with Juliette, Aaron, Kenji, and Nazeera, but I was disappointed in this book. I felt like the series was getting better and better with each book and I was becoming so invested in the story and characters and then this book was a whole 180. I thought this book, since it’s the last full length novel and there’s just one novella left in the series, it would be explosive and full of action and the group working together to defeat The Reestablishment and Anderson. Instead the book was slow, Juliette had her memory wiped again, and there was a weird storyline of her being attracted to Anderson. I was reading and texting my friends who had read the series years ago, saying “What is going on right now?!”

In the end I still gave it 3 stars on GoodReads because I liked being back with these characters even though I didn’t love this particular book. I’m hoping the final novella in the series redeems it all for me!
