Brunch & Schmigadoon!
Over the weekend my friend and I continued our tradition of going in the city for food and a Broadway show. Normally, we go out by train to the city, eat an early dinner, and then see a show. But this time around, we decided to go on a Sunday, have brunch, and see a matinee. The downside to this was that I had work the next day. But the upside was that we got out of the show by 5:30 and were able to get home before it got late.
For brunch we had reservations at Dolly’s in Hell’s Kitchen. I got the eggs benedict with lox. My friend got shrimp and grits, which she said was amazing. All the food was so good. We sat down to eat earlier than our reservation so we got out earlier than planned and walked around for a while. We stopped in Mokafe and I got an iced mocha latte with pistachio syrup. Then, we headed to the theater to see Schmigadoon! The show was alright. I didn’t dislike it, but I didn’t love it either. There were a few funny moments, but neither of us thought it was that funny. And there were one or two catchy songs, but it’s not a show that is going to have me listening to the soundtrack much.
The show may not have been our favorite, but it was still a good time in the city.
