    Lox & Bagel

I’m not a huge breakfast eater in terms of being able to eat a lot so something like a bagel is perfect for me. One of my favorite breakfasts is Lox & Bagel because it is so simple and scrumptious. I like making it myself because I like being able to control the amount of cream cheese on my bagel. If I ever get a bagel and cream cheese out somewhere I always ask for the cream cheese on the side because I hate when places load my bagel up with thick amounts of cream cheese. I like a very thin layer so I’d rather just do it myself. For this super…

    Bacon & Egg Breakfast Pastry

For someone whose favorite meal is decidedly not breakfast, I seem to share a lot of breakfast food posts on here. Maybe because breakfast foods tend to be a little easier and I’m all about easy recipes. Today I’m sharing a bacon & egg breakfast pastry. I got the idea from Pinterest a long time ago and I think on there I saw posts calling it a “bacon and egg crescent square” because it uses crescent roll dough, but I decided not to call it that for 2 reasons. 1) I split my crescent roll dough in half because the squares were too big of a serving for me so…

    French Toast with Italian Bread

It’s an international affair for my food post today. Okay, not really – it’s just French Toast, but while the quick french toast breakfast I had as a kid usually consisted of regular white bread from the likes of Wonder Bread or Pepperidge Farm, I used a loaf of italian bread for this breakfast. I’m still all for the regular white bread, but I wanted to be a little fancier this time around. I wanted nice, thick slices of french toast so that’s how I sliced up the loaf. Then, I made your standard french toast dipping mixture consisting of eggs, milk, sugar, and cinnamon. Cook until both sides (after flipping)…

    Thanksgiving Turkey Cinnamon Buns

No, these cinnamon buns do not contain turkey in them – that would be sorta gross. What I’m sharing with you today are cinnamon buns decorated to look like turkeys for Thanksgiving! I found this cute idea from Pillsbury and I made a slight change. This is very easy to do! All you need is a pack of Pillsbury Cinnamon Buns. You’ll cook them in a round pan. Once they’re cooked, you can ice your cinnamon buns and then stick bacon (I ripped the strips in half) strips into the buns to act as the feathers of the turkey. Pillsbury had sugar eyes, but I didn’t have those and I wasn’t…

    Pepper & Egg Galette

When I think of galettes, dessert usually comes to mind. But just like with crepes, there are savory galettes as well. A while back I tried my hand at making a breakfast galette from a recipe I found on Pinterest. I followed the recipe for the most part, but adjusted ingredients to suit me such as leaving out the cilantro because I hate cilantro. I know, “hate” is a strong word, but I really do. I used puff pastry and cut the sheet into 4 squares, scored and pricked the squares. Then, I put them back in the fridge for 30 minutes. The recipe roasts the peppers and onions, but I sauteed…

    Snowman Pancake

Ah Sunday morning already. And we lost an hour of sleep! I have a long week ahead at work + parent/teacher conferences and I have the beginnings of a cold so needless to say, I’m not too happy it’s already Sunday! To brighten up this Sunday morning a tiny bit, I made my pancakes look like a snowman today after seeing something similar on Pinterest. Just make one pancake smaller than the other to create the head and the body, the bacon serves as the scarf, chocolate chips for the face and buttons, and powder sugar for the snow! Super easy and possibly nothing extra than what you’d already do…

    Muffin Tin Omelettes

Whenever I’m looking for new recipes to try out on Pinterest, breakfast recipes seem to dominate. I’m not the biggest breakfast eater, but I do love to try out new things and recipe ideas. I’ve seen a couple different takes on these omelettes made in muffin tins. Here’s what I did… I greased the muffin tin, put some frozen tater tots into each slot, and then baked them. While the tater tots baked, I cut up some bell peppers and baked ham that I had left over. I also used an onion, which isn’t pictured here. Once the tater tots were done, I used a measuring cup to smash them…

    Pancakes with Bacon

Yes, the post title is called pancakes with bacon, not and. A few weeks ago I was scouring the Internet for some new breakfast ideas and I saw quite a few good ones, but most of them all had ingredients that I was missing. Then, I saw these pancakes with strips of bacon inside them. I had all the ingredients for my pancakes and I had bacon. Perfect! I love pancakes and I love bacon and normally I would eat them at the same breakfast meal anyway but this was just something different to try out. If you already know how to make pancakes then this recipe is super simple. All you…

    Swedish Pancakes

Everytime I go to IHOP, which is only maybe once or twice a year, I get the Swedish Crepes (with a side of bacon of course). I love them and I never order anything else. I think it’s one of those situations where if I did order something else just to try to switch it up, I’d immediately regret not getting the Swedish Crepes because who knows when I’d go back next. What makes Swedish Crepes different than regular crepes, I’m not sure, but anyway, I decided to try to find a recipe to make them myself. While searching on the Internet, I found Swedish Pancake recipes and the pictures look…

    Summer Mornings

Today begins my 2nd week of summer vacation. I’m starting to feel like a person again and not as crazy and stressed out which the end of a school year inevitably turns teachers into. Besides the normal things to look forward to in the summer such as trips, hanging out with friends, and the beach – there are a few more very simple things that make me happy it’s summer. 1. I can take my time and eat a nice(r) breakfast than during the school year when all I usually have time for is some yogurt or cereal.  Fresh flowers, scrambled eggs, cranberry walnut toast, and my mocha coffee. 2. Pretty…
