“Dress Up” with Stripes

Stripes have this magical way of making any outfit look dressier. You could be wearing yoga pants and flip flops, but if you have a striped top on with it, you instantly look more “nicely dressed”. This past Friday night, I went out to dinner with a friend and after a long week of work I wanted to wear something easy but also that made me feel really put together. I was also in a bit of a lazy mood so I didn’t feel like putting a lot of effort into my look!

Top: Loft
Pants: Uniqlo
Shoes: Classic Short UGGs

This top was perfect for two reasons. 1) The stripes, as I said earlier, makes my outfit look more dressy than it is. 2) The denim colored material is attached to this black and white striped shirt which automatically looks like I put a lot more effort into this look than I actually did. Perfect!

Once I put on these jeggings from Uniqlo, I thought the outfit would look better with a darker denim, but alas I was too lazy to look for another pair of jeans. The jeggings were a good choice though since we went to an all you can eat sushi place and stretchy pants are key!

Earrings: BaubleBar

I thought about wearing a statement necklace, but we weren’t going anywhere fancy so I decided to just wear these cute bow earrings. They are very dainty and a tiny added touch to my look. Side note, I got my highlights redone a few weeks ago and I love that the purply red is really showing through these days (in certain lighting) – usually it starts to get lighter by now. Not sure what it is as I haven’t switched shampoos or anything, but I’ll take it!

I’m happy with the look. It was a seriously no-effort look to put together, but in my opinion, doesn’t look like I didn’t give it any thought.

Do you think stripes can dress anything up too?
