5 Fall/Winter Inspired Songs
It feels like it took forever to arrive at Wednesday this week, but here we finally are. Hopefully you all have been experiencing much speedier weeks. Today I wanted to share a few songs that I think are perfect for this time of the year. No, I’m not talking about the holiday season, but instead I’m talking about the fall/winter. I’m the type of person that really associates songs with seasons or times of the year. There’s some songs that definitely sound more summery with their upbeat melodies and some that seem more suited for the winter months that feature slower melodies and deeper tones. Sometimes it has a lot to do with the lyrics too as summer songs usually have fun, carefree lyrics and fall/winter songs are sadder or more serious.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve compiled a list of songs that I associate with these cool weather months. Some are recent songs while some are a bit older. Without further ado, here they are in no particular order!
1. Ed Sheeran – Photograph
I love this song and while I know it was really popular over the summer there’s something about it that makes me think of the fall or winter. Maybe it’s because it’s got such a soothing, melancholy sound. It’s about holding on to a love and reminiscing which I always connect with fall and winter.
2. John Mayer – Slow Dancing in a Burning Room
This is one of my all-time favorite songs by John Mayer who I believe is an amazing songwriter and even more amazing live. I’ve seen him play twice before and words can’t describe how great he is as a performer and how much I love his lyrics. This song is most definitely one that I love to play in the winter.
3. Alessia Cara – Here
Alessia Cara is a relative newcomer to the music scene. The song lyrics are about a girl at a house party with her friends feeling completely out of place and not in her element. I only know this one song by her, but it is so r&b infused which instantly makes me think of the winter.
4. Leaving California – Maroon 5
This is the most upbeat song on the list probably, but like “Photograph” it has a feeling of reminiscing and I feel like winter consists a lot of looking back. Plus, it’s called “Leaving California” and when I think of California, I automatically think of summer and warm weather so leaving it would mean heading into those quieter and colder months.
5. Macklemore – Growing Up
This is the song Macklemore wrote for his baby. I always find songs that are about life and life lessons fit perfectly into the fall and winter seasons. I really love this song and wish it was on Spotify!
That wraps up my fall/winter inspired song list. There’s definitely a theme with the beats and messages. I guess I just always connect life lessons, holding on or letting go of love, and looking back on memories with the fall and winter. Maybe it’s because it’s the months of the year that seem calmer and quieter. A time when people tend to reflect more on life and people/things in their life.
I’d love to hear some songs that you associate with the fall/winter!

I must add “Hello’ by Adele. It is just so great. Plus, it’s new still so it’s not yet as overplayed as it will be in about a month. Haha!

True! When I made this list a while ago “Hello” wasn’t out yet and then when I wrote up the post I kinda went on autopilot based on the pre-made list haha
