Naan Pizza

Naan, a flat bread hailing from South Asia, has become increasingly popular in the western world for quite some time now. Every once in a while I like to make my own pizza at home. Making pizzas at home has been something I’ve done with my family since I was in middle school probably. Over the years the kinds of pizzas I’ve made have changed. I’ve used frozen pizza dough and made whole cookie sheets of pizza. That changed to buying pizza dough from local pizza shops and making pies at home. These days, I’m into making personal sized pizzas and using naan bread is the perfect way to do this.

I buy a pack of naan bread from the supermarket and begin to prep my toppings. Since these are personal sized, I can usually eat two.

The possibilities of pizza toppings is endless as you all probably know. For one of my pizzas I used tomato sauce, mozzarella, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and spinach. For my second pizza I used the same ingredients but swapped out the spinach for basil. I had some pepperoni on hand as well which I ate on the side because I actually like the taste of cold pepperoni!

I spread tomato sauce on the naan bread, broke up some mozzarella and sprinkled it on top of each mini pizza. I pre-cooked the veggies (except for the basil, which I added at the end) by sautee’ing them ahead of time so they would be softer on top of the pizza, but it’s totally up to you.

Cook in the oven until the pizzas are a little golden and the cheese melts!
