My favorite lip products are jumbo lip pencils like the Clinique Chubby Sticks or the Revlon Colour Balm Lip Stains. Most of these chubby sticks are so comfortable to wear and they are so easy to use since they normally don’t require you to be too careful when applying them. Since I have a love for jumbo lip pencils, I had to try the MAC Patentpolishes.
MAC describes these little gems as “A lip colour that combines the sheen of a gloss with the precision of a lip pencil”. This is right up my alley because I’m more partial to a glossy look than a matte look. In my collection, I have 3 so I thought I’d show them off!
First up, I have Patentpink described as a washed out lilac. This is not a scary purple, but more of a pink that pulls light purple.
Next up, Kittenish, which is a mauvey pink. Mauvey pinks are my favorite lip shades because I think it’s such a flattering shade on so many different skin tones.
Lastly, I have Revved – a creamy peach, which is from the Ellie Goulding limited edition collection. I think it’s pretty much the same as Revved Up from their permanent collection.
This creamy peach shade looks darker in the tube than it really is which is perfect for me since I’m not into super bright lip colors.
I wore Patentpink the other day so here’s a couple shots of me so you can see how it wears.
You can definitely see the lilac peeking through the pink. You can make this much more opaque by building the color up, but I just went for a quick swipe for an easy, casual look.
I’m absolutely in love with how smooth these patentpolish lip pencils are. They glide on effortlessly and indeed feel like a gloss minus the tackiness or stickiness. To top it off, they have that signature vanilla scent that MAC lip products have.
Definitely a fan and I’m sure that over time I will be adding more to my collection!
