Guerlain Météorites Illuminating Powder Pearls
Guerlain is one of the fanciest, expensive, high-end beauty brands out there. I’ve owned one thing ever from the brand (the Météorites Primer) years ago and every time I put it on my face it felt luxurious. I’ve seen, as I’m sure all of you have as well, the Météorites Illuminating Powder Pearls for years on blogs, Instagram, etc. There are a few different shades and then every once in a while I see someone post about a limited edition one that’s out. I’ve always thought that they looked beautiful but never splurged. Until now that is.
Back in the spring Sephora had their VIB/VIB Rouge sale and when those roll around I usually stock up on things I’m running low on or in most cases I pick up a limited edition item I’ve been eyeing. Well this time around, I didn’t have much that I really needed so after putting a mascara and cleansing oil (more on that in a few weeks) in my virtual basket I decided to finally get the Illuminating Powder Pearls!
I decided to buy “Clair” as it’s the lightest shade and honestly I thought the colors of these pearls were the prettiest.
First off, how gorgeous is this tin packaging with the flower on top?! You pop the lid off to reveal a puff protecting the beautiful multi-colored illuminating pearls. Fancy! I literally cannot think of words to describe how pretty these pearls are in person. The light pastel colors and gentle sparkle to them looks like a heavenly party in a canister.
So what exactly are these pearls and what do they claim to do?
They are: “An illuminating powder made up of light-diffusing pearls that minimize flaws and add brightness to the skin.”
What they do: “Geurlain’s iconic handcrafted pearls have been reinvented with a boosted illuminating power. For the first time ever, Météorites’ Pearls incorporate Guerlain’s exclusive Stardust Technology, a spherical pigment contained within each pearl. This formulation diffracts light upon contact to envelop the skin in a halo of light. Each lightweight shade has a specific correcting action to offer women the ultimate in luminous skin.”
I gently swirled my brush inside and tapped off the excess because I wanted that “halo of light” that the product promises; I did not want to look like a disco ball.
I gently swirled and buffed it onto the tops of my cheekbones, down my nose, a little on my cupid’s bow and chin. The results? Fabulous! I purposely did not wear any highlighter so that you could see the full effect of the pearls doing their thing.
Side note: Yes, my tank top says “Bed is bae”! I picked it up on sale at Victoria’s Secret and I love it!
Guerlain actually says that you can use this all over your face to set your makeup, which I haven’t tried. I think I prefer to use it just to highlight areas of my face that I want to look more glowy or luminous. I have a wedding to attend this weekend and you can bet I’ll be wearing this to at least one of the wedding events!
Yes, this is definitely a bit pricey but if you’re looking for a high-end item to treat yourself to then this will not disappoint. There are more affordable copy-cat products out there like the ELF Mineral Pearls which retail for 1/8 of the price. Yes, that’s right – 1/8 of the price! But really, I think with certain items there’s just no comparison between high-end and drugstore. I mean, I would spend more money than what the ELF product costs for the Guerlain packaging alone!
Have you tried the Météorites Illuminating Powder Pearls before? If you have any Guerlain recommendations let me know in the comments!
