Did you watch the Oscars last night? I loved Justin Timberlake kicking the night off with “Can’t Stop the Feeling” – so fun! Jimmy Kimmel was funny as host and I loved all the humorous and inspirational moments regarding our country’s current state of affairs from all the presenters and award winners. They kept it light while also making an impact. Other thoughts – the show was so long! I don’t remember the last time the show ended past midnight on the east coast. The bit with the tourists was cool but seriously that took up so much time! Also how crazy was the end of the show with the Best Picture mixup?!
As with all the major awards shows I’m rounding up my favorite looks of the night. There was a major trend of white and gold last night as well as off the shoulder looks, some of which you’ll see in my fashion picks.
First up, Octavia Spencer in a gorgeous Marchesa gown. It’s a beautiful color on her and I think the off-the-shoulder look and feathery skirt looked great on her!

It was a beautiful mix of modest since she was mostly covered up but sexy too with the nude sections of the gown, deep v back, and high slit. It was just gorgeous!

Photo by David Fisher/REX/ShutterstockOlivia Culpo always looks amazing and this Marchesa gown is no exception. The lace, fringe, and plunging neckline give me flapper vibes and I love it.

Janelle Monae’s style is known for her artsy looks and I can’t get enough of this gown. She, for sure, is the only one who could pull it off. Her sheer bodice with strategically placed appliques remind me of Halle Berry’s infamous gown all those years ago.
Photo by David Fisher/REX/Shutterstock When I first saw pictures of Jessica Biel’s Kauffman Franco gown I wasn’t a big fan. The two-tone color made me think of leopard print. But then I saw it on TV when she was being interviewed on the red carpet and it really worked on camera and I’m sure was even prettier in person! On TV the gown looked less leopard-y because the sequins just worked much better. Maybe it just didn’t photograph well.
Photo by David Fisher/REX/ShutterstockNicole Kidman‘s Armani Privé gown was another one that didn’t photograph as well as it looked on TV. Still pictures just don’t pick up on the intricate beading and sparkle that well. I chose this because I thought it was the perfect gown for Nicole statuesque figure. The high neckline works for her and she even said on the red carpet that she was incredibly comfortable so that sounds like a winner!
(Photo by Steve Granitz/WireImage)This Alaia gown Scarlett Johansson wore might be controversial for a best dressed list and I debated whether I wanted to include it. I admit this gown is not formal enough for the Oscars, but there’s just something about it that I love. Maybe because it screams spring or because it looks so flowy and comfortable. Whatever it is, I’m including it!
Photo by David Fisher/REX/ShutterstockGinnifer Goodwin in Zuhair Murad looks the best she’s looked in a while! I guess that’s what happens when you have 2 babies back to back – it takes a while to get back to your pre-baby body. I really love this gown and all the lace panels and sheer strips, but this wasn’t my favorite. The red is just not doing it for me. I’m including it because I love the style. I would’ve loved it if it was in another color. Perhaps a baby blue or lilac then it would just look so ethereal.

Taraji P. Henson shows off her incredible figure in this Alberta Ferretti off-the-shoulder gown. The gown looks velvet, which if it is is makes the dress look even more luxurious.

Taraji looked incredible – that dress fit her perfectly! And she really needed a win after the purple Grammys disaster.
And I agree with you on Chrissie and Hailee – beautiful dresses. I think Hailee wins though, because that dress really was a dream. 🙂
