Eve Lom – Rescue Mask

My skin has been acting up lately, probably due to stress and holiday eating. Luckily, a while ago during one of Sephora’s sales I picked up the Rescue Mask by Eve Lom. I first learned about this mask from Ingrid Nilsen. She talked about it multiple times on her instastories and swears by it so I thought it would be a great product to try out especially during a break out.

The company describes the mask as:

“The calming Rescue Mask gently cleanses to decongest pores without drying out the skin. Stressed and troubled complexions are rescued with kaolin clay to absorb and control excess oil and visibly reduce puffiness, camphor to cool and lift debris, ground almonds to gently exfoliate, and honey to condition and refine. Blotchiness, redness, irritable breakouts, jet lag, oiliness, irritation, congestion, blackheads, and morning-after puffiness are combatted with this hardworking, versatile formula that soothes, conditions, and restores skin’s vibrancy and health—giving you a soft, supple complexion.”

Upon opening the package for the first time I could immediately smell a medicinal scent, which I now believe is the camphor in the mask. It’s not a bad smell, but a strong one though once it’s on the skin you can’t really smell it. The mask goes on easily but has a little bit of grit to it so there is a little bit of pull and drag when applying. The consistency is thin so even with a second pass around my face I can still see my skin underneath.

I’ve used the mask as an all-over face mask a few times and as a spot treatment a few times. What I love about this mask is that it really does what it claims – it treats the blemish without drying out the rest of your skin. On one occasion I had a nasty pimple starting to come up and the mask really reduced the severity of the blemish and it started to go down before it hit its peak. It also didn’t dry my skin out and didn’t leave a scar. Currently, I have a few blemishes that I didn’t treat in time due to me being too busy to remember to put the mask on, so I’ve currently been trying to play catch up and use the mask as a spot treatment to help get rid of them now.

Overall, I’m really enjoying this mask and I think it really does work. I would definitely repurchase it but with the price tag on it, I would probably wait for the next Sephora VIB sale before doing so, though I still have a lot left in my tube.
