Goo Goo Dolls – Dizzy Up the Girl Anniversary Tour
Happy Friday! If you saw my blog post last week rounding up a few of my favorite Goo Goo Dolls songs then you know I went to see them in concert this week. To make a long story short, Goo Goo Dolls were one of my favorite bands in high school. I loved their music and frontman Johnny Rzeznik. High school was an okay time for me – I wouldn’t say they were the best years but they weren’t miserable either. I would say my high school years were typical and Goo Goo Dolls definitely were my go-to music when I wasn’t listening to NSYNC, Justin Timberlake, and other pop artists.
So when my friend Amy and I (my Goo Goo Dolls partner in crime in high school) heard they were doing a 20th anniversary tour for their mega hit album Dizzy Up the Girl, we really wanted to go. We had gone together to see them in concert back in high school, so we wanted to go together again. Tickets were sold out before we could get them, but we must have been meant to see them because Amy won tickets! So we went this past Tuesday night to see them at Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ and the show was so good!
I knew most of the songs they played, just not a few of the newer ones. They played the whole Dizzy Up the Girl album and then a few older and newer songs. It was really fun singing along to songs that I’ve loved for so long!
And here are two videos!
They played for a solid 2 hours with no intermission or real breaks besides talking a little here and there. I forgot how much I loved them and prepping for the show by listening to their music and then seeing them live has definitely rekindled my love. We will have to see them again and not wait another 10+ years!
