Apple Crumb Cake
Looking for something to snack on with your coffee this weekend? This apple crumb cake is so good and perfect with that afternoon cup of coffee! When I make it I follow this recipe that I found on Pinterest. Like with most recipes, I followed the original recipe pretty closely except for a few minor changes.
As always, you can click on the original recipe above for all the exact measurements and details. What I changed about the recipe was that I made the cake in a pan smaller than 9×13 so that it would be a little cakier (is that word?). I also halved the crumble, because I don’t like too much crumble. Plus, I’m not huge on sweets. Lastly, since I’m not huge on sweets I opted not to make the glaze to drizzle on top.
In one bowl (the blue bowl) I made the mix for the cake which got transferred to the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer. It consists of butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, sour cream, flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder.
In another bowl (the green bowl), I made the crumble which consists of flour, brown sugar, sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, butter, and vanilla.
Dice up 2 or 3 apples and then you’ll start layering. Pour half the batter in to the bottom of the baking dish. Then, top with the apples and half the crumble. Next, pour the rest of the cake batter on top and the rest of the crumble.
Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
This apple crumble cake is so tasty and the cake is nice and moist. Next time I make it I would definitely add walnuts for something a little extra and extra crunch. I love that this cake is delicious and not too sweet. It’s just the perfect amount of sweetness!
