Friends 25th Anniversary

If you read my post yesterday about hoping there would be no surprises, setbacks, or other stress related things for my final day before the closing on my condo then I’m here to tell you that yesterday was so filled with stress and anxiety that two new pimples have popped up on my chin. Seriously, I was filled with anxiety all day yesterday and to the point of near tears last night because I’m just so tired. At the time of writing this I have no idea what exactly will happen today and if the closing will go according to plan, but I’ll update you in tomorrow’s post.

In much happier news, if you didn’t already know the tv show, Friends, celebrated its 25th anniversary this summer. You’re bound to have seen the anniversary news everywhere from Pottery Barn selling pillows and the famous apothecary table to Alex & Ani selling anniversary bracelets like the “You’re my lobster” one that my bff got me for my birthday!

I thought for this post I would show you my new bracelet and also round up 10 super memorable Friends episodes. Well, all the episodes are memorable and hilarious but I’m picking out 10 with those iconic lines that I always think of and know by heart when I see the episode!

Isn’t the bracelet cute? I’ve linked to it above if you want to check it out or any of their other Friends anniversary items.

Now on to my episode list! Again, these are not necessarily my favorite episodes but just 10 that I have favorite lines from.

“The One Where Underdog Gets Away”  – This one is a Thanksgiving episode and Monica takes on the responsibility of making Thanksgiving dinner for the gang. Everyone’s plans get cancelled last minute and she has to cook for everyone and accommodate everyone’s mashed potato preferences. She ends up cooking mashed potatoes with lumps, potatoes with peas and onions, and tater tots. They all go up to the roof when they hear the Underdog balloon from the Macy’s Parade got loose and they are locked out of the apartment. When they finally get back in everything is burnt. “Potatoes are ruined, potatoes are ruined, potatoes are ruined!”

“The One Where Rachel Finds out” – This was the season 1 finale when Rachel finds out that Ross is in love with her. Ross is on his way on a business trip to China and Rachel is opening her birthday presents when Chandler lets slip that Ross is in love with her. He gets flustered and starts rubbing his temples as he freaks out and Joey says “That’s good just keep rubbing your heart, that’ll turn back time”

“The One After the Superbowl: Part 2” – Monica and Rachel meet Jean Claude Van Damme on a movie set and fight over his affections. “Did you just flick me?!”

“The One with the Embryos” – Monica and Rachel compete against Chandler and Joey for who knows each other better. If the boys win, they get the apartment. If the girls win, the boys get rid of the chick and duck. When Ross asks the guys how many categories Monica has for her towels it goes something like this, “Every day use, guest, fancy, fancy guest….11?!”

  1. “The One with Ross’s Sandwich” – While going through a tough time after his break up with Emily, someone at work eats his sandwich from the refrigerator made with leftover Thanksgiving food. “You threw away my sandwich? MY sandwich??!”

“The One with All the Resolutions” – While trying to look cool on a date, Ross wears leather pants. But he gets really hot and after going to cool off in the bathroom can’t get the pants back up over his legs. He tries lotion and baby powder to get them back on. “The lotion and the powder have made a paste”

“The One Where Everybody Finds Out” – This one is when everyone finds out that Chandler and Monica have been secretly seeing each other since London. Rachel and Phoebe mess with Chandler and Monica to try to get them to admit they’re together. Then Chandler and Monica find out and mess with them back and so on and so on. “They don’t know we know they know we know they know”

“The One with the Cop” –  Ross tries to get his new sofa up to his apartment. It’s the famous “Pivot! Pivot!” episode.

“The One with the Apothecary Table” – Rachel gets a table from Pottery Barn, but can’t tell Phoebe where it’s from because she hates mass produced items. Rachel tells her it’s an apothecary table from a flea market and that it’s from the dares of yore and after opening the drawers Phoebe says “You can almost smell the opium”

“The One with the Holiday Armadillo” – Ross’s son wants Santa to come visit but Ross couldn’t get a Santa suit, plus he wants Ben to know his jewish side. The only costume he could get was an armadillo one which leads him to say he’s “The holiday armadillo!”

There are so many other good ones, but it would take me so much time to get through them all! I just went through the episode list of seasons 1-8 and there were 10 so these were the ones I chose. I wish I had time to get through the other seasons like when Chandler and Monica go on their honeymoon and miss all the upgrades that the newlyweds before them in every line get. Or when Brad Pitt guest starred on a Thanksgiving episode. Or when Anna Farris guest starred as the woman who was giving her baby to Chandler and Monica to adopt. Ahh so many good ones!
