Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup Melting Butter

I usually use cleansing oils on my face before following up with a cleanser to do a double cleanse. But, I wanted to try something different after my last cleansing oil so I got the Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup Melting Butter. The last time I used a cleansing balm like this was the Clinique one and I didn’t love it. I do love their Take off the Day Cleansing Oil, though. I think the reason I like this Drunk Elephant one more than the Clinique balm is because it came with a scooper so it’s easier to get the product out to apply.

I took these photos when I first started using the product as you can see with the smooth surface! I’ve been using it for almost 2 months now and I like it. I think there are definite pros and cons, but overall I like it.

“Formulated with antioxidant-rich fruit extracts and a soothing and nourishing blend of African oils, this balm cleanser transforms from an oil to a milk to cleanse and moisturize, leaving behind a dewy glow.

Ingredients:

– Nourishing Fruit Salad Blend: A mix of non-fragrant, soothing fruit extracts (blueberry, kiwi, and strawberry) and replenishing fruit oils (cranberry seed oil, acai fruit oil, and watermelon seed oil) that comforts and moisturizes the skin.
– Nourishing Oil Blend: A mix of moisturizing and lightweight oils (marula seed, baobab seed, kalahari melon seed, mongongo, and ximenia) that protects and nurtures the skin.
– Bamboo and Charcoal Powder: Gently exfoliate away built-up dead, dry skin.

Here are the pros and cons for me.

Pros – I like that it’s easy to apply and use, it’s not drying or feel like I’m rubbing barely nothing on my face.

Cons – It definitely takes me longer to wash my face than with a cleansing oil. I feel like I rinse my face for a lot longer because it always feels like there’s product still on my skin – that filmy feeling.

So it takes a little longer to wash my face, but I think it does a good job of cleaning all of my makeup off before I use my cleanser.

I may repurchase in the future, but I think I’ll next go back to a cleansing oil first.
