It may be the middle of winter, but I can eat ice cream any time of year. I realized that I never wrote a post or shared my photos for this ice cream pie that I made a long time ago. I’ve made it a few times, but not in a while so I think I’ll have to make it this weekend!
The recipe is based off of a Pioneer Woman recipe I found years ago. She has a few different ones and I don’t remember which one I originally tried out, but since then I’ve just used the idea of it to make it my own.
So for my ice cream pie, I use:
- vanilla ice cream
- oreo crust
- hot fudge
I use store-bought oreo pie crust to make things easier. Put the vanilla ice cream in a large bowl to let it soften. You can use any kind of candy you want, but I love Twix and I think the mix of chocolate, cookie, and caramel makes for a great ice cream pie filling. Chop up your candy bars into chunks and mix it into the softened ice cream. Pour the ice cream onto the pie crust and freeze until the pie hardens and you’re ready to serve.
When the pie is ready to serve, I top it with some chopped pecans and drizzle hot fudge over top.
It’s always so good! Definitely going to have to make it this weekend!
