DIY Yarn Bow Valentine’s Day Card

Since I made my own Christmas cards back in December I wanted to make my own Valentine’s Day cards. I looked up a few different ideas and I had some ideas of my own, but those all went to the wayside once I actually began making the cards. What I ended up doing is a very simple, minimalistic card with red/pink yarn that I tied into bows. I went for the minimalist approach partly because I wanted to do something very clean looking with a lot of white space and also partly because I was feeling a little lazy (oops) so I didn’t want to do anything complicated. I used my…

    Onesie Sundae

If you clicked on this post thinking it was going to be a food post, namely a sundae, then sorry to burst your bubble but it’s a craft post! My friend’s baby shower was back in November and since she just had her baby girl last week, I thought I would post this onesie sundae today. I found a lot of variations of this project online. There are sundaes, cupcakes, and whatever else you can think of made out of onesies and receiving blankets which is what I used to make this sundae. It didn’t come out as good as I wanted, but it was my first time and obviously…

    DIY Gift Wrapping Bows

It’s Christmas week! Hopefully you’re not all tired of Christmas themed posts because that’s basically all I have planned this whole week, but I’ll try to keep it interesting for you. Today, I’m sharing with you a gift wrapping post. I love wrapping presents, but I don’t really do anything interesting with my wrapping. It’s usually your standard gift wrapping. I’ve always wanted to do the brown paper, twine, and holly gift wrapping look because I think it looks so classic, beautiful, and simple. I didn’t do that this year, but maybe next year I’ll give it a try. This time around, I perused Pinterest looking for some creative gift…

    DIY Christmas Cards

This year I wanted to do something a little different and attempt to make my own Christmas cards instead of buying. I’m not the craftiest person so I was smart enough to not be over-ambitious with my card making plans because I knew that would just get me frustrated. So for my first go at making my own cards was pretty simple and mostly involved a variety of stickers, card stock, and glitter paper. I went to Hobby Lobby for all my supplies which included: envelopes, card stock, felt tip pens, red & silver/gold glitter paper, a variety of 3D Christmas stickers, and clear Christmas stickers with little messages like “Peace…

    Halloween 2015

Happy Halloween! Did any of you dress up in costume for work yesterday? I did and like I have done for the past 4 years, I did a group costume with my friends at work. We’ve done some great group costumes from Care Bears to Shark Week and last year we were all iPhone apps (I was Instagram). This year our group was only 4 people and we decided to be holidays. I chose Thanksgiving! I’m not sure why I chose Thanksgiving, but I’m glad I did because my costume turned out pretty good! I wasn’t sure if the craft store would have anything Thanksgiving related out yet, but they…

    Glitter Pumpkins

I can’t believe that Halloween is just 2 days away. It’s hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that we’re pretty much at the end of October already. I haven’t written any Halloween related posts yet this season, but that’s about to change! This year I decided I wanted to try decorating my pumpkins with glitter. Confession: I am the worst pumpkin carver ever. Seriously. I always find it so hard and then my arms get tired and it’s just not a pretty sight. Maybe I’m using the wrong kind of knives to carve pumpkins, but anyway, I decided to decorate with glitter this year! I got one little…

    Fall Door Decor

An easy way to decorate for any season or holiday is by putting some decor on your front door. There are so many creative DIY fall wreaths and door decor pieces available online that I’d love to try in the future, but this year I took the easy way out and got a store-bought one. I did, however, tweak it a little bit. First off, can I just say that there are so many fall wreaths and decor pieces that are really not cute looking! I find that so many of them have the fake acorns and they are not good looking acorns in the slightest. Yes, they’re fake acorns but…

    Fall Decor: DIY Acorns

A few weeks ago I started searching on good ol’ Pinterest for easy fall home decor DIY projects. “Easy” being the operative word because my DIY craft skills are seriously limited. I really searched “easy fall decor DIY”. I came across this acorn craft that I thought was super cute so off to the craft store I went! Now the website I found this on uses multicolored yarn for the body of the acorn and burlap for the top. Since I already had light and dark brown yarn at home, I decided to forgo the burlap. This decision was made easier because I couldn’t find dark brown burlap at the store!…

    Purple & White Baby Blanket

Last year I crocheted a baby blanket for my friend as a gift before she gave birth to her first baby. Well, time flies because her baby girl just turned 1! For her birthday, I decided to make her a new, bigger blanket. Now, I like attempting to craft and create things but I’m not very crafty. I haven’t had the time to learn how to crochet any patterns or cool designs so all I know how to do is just your basic crochet. I did want to make it look more fun and not plain though so what I decided to do was use three colors: white, light purple,…

    Easter Eggs

I haven’t dyed Easter eggs in years, but I felt like doing it this year so that’s just what I did this past weekend. I’m not very artistic, though I wish I was, so I didn’t make pretty eggs with really cool and/or intricate designs (maybe one day!). All I did was dye them. I used this shrink wrap type thing on one of the eggs. I had 2 more to use, but they wouldn’t fit around the eggs! The one that did work, slipped onto the egg and then I used a blow dryer and the wrapping melted/stuck onto the egg shell. The little dye kit I got also came…
