Photo Challenge: Inspiration

This past week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post was a little tough at first. The challenge was “Inspiration”  and I didn’t know what I wanted to take a picture of or use from my old pictures. It’s not that I’m uninspired by things, but that many things inspire me in different ways. Nothing I did this week particularly inspired me, at least nothing interesting enough to photograph, so I went through old travel pictures and this is what I came up with…

I know the photo’s a little blurry, but I don’t have the original file readily available as I’m typing this up. It’s partially blurry just from being a low quality file and partially because the Eiffel Tower was in the midst of sparkling (I’m so happy I have a great video of it).

Why do I find the Eiffel Tower inspirational? Well, there are a few different reasons. First, I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ve been fortunate enough to have traveled to Paris a few times. My first ever major trip without my parents was to France when I was 14. I went with my french class. As an adult now, it’s a little scary to think I went overseas by myself when I was just 14! It makes me reminisce about that trip and I get inspired to keep exploring the world. I’ve been back twice since then, once with friends and once with my family. Honestly, Paris isn’t my favorite city. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful city full of culture and rich in history, and I’d love to return. But my reason for telling you it’s not my all-time favorite place in the world, other than being truthful, is that it’s not the reason I find inspiration from it. I find inspiration from this site because it makes me think of traveling, possibilities for the future. It is an iconic symbol of Paris, which undoubtedly makes me think of culture, fashion, beauty, food. These are all things that inspire me. I have serious wanderlust; I love learning about cultures and history; Fashion and beauty are staples in my life; And food just makes me happy. All the time.

So when I look at this picture or think of the Eiffel Tower sparkling against the evening sky, I get inspired for all that it represents to me.
