Cinderella

The live-action film Cinderella came out last year and if you’ve been following me for a while you may remember my post about the designer “glass” slippers that were created to celebrate the movie. I only recently saw the movie and really enjoyed it.

I love Lily James (I do hope she makes an appearance in this last season of Downton Abbey that’s airing now in the US). The cinematography and fashion is beyond gorgeous in this film. The colors are so rich and vibrant in all the sets and costumes throughout the film leaving me mesmerized by the beauty of it all. Everything was so beautiful and there were some great quotes/messages in the movie that I felt were so appropriate to share at the start of a new year because the heart of the story, Cinderella, endures which is the idea that dreams can come true and goodness prevails.

cate blanchett - Cinderella

The above pictures are just to give you an idea of how rich all the colors are and just how detailed and ornate all the sets and props were. Lily James is marvelous as Cinderella; Richard Madden is a charming Prince; Cate Blanchett plays the evil Stepmother sinfully well. And I always like to see Helena Bonham Carter all cleaned up and fancy looking!

Not only is the movie a vision of vibrant colors for the eyes, but there’s such a good message. There were two quotes that really stuck out to me that I loved.

“Have courage and be kind.”

and

“To be seen as we truly are, is the biggest risk we will ever take.”

How true are these two quotes? “Have courage and be kind” is a quote that I’d love to live by. And the second quote, I think is incredibly true. Being ourselves and allowing people to see the real us can be incredibly scary.

Cinderella is a great movie to cozy up on the couch and watch this winter and to start off 2016. The mix of the visuals and heart hitting messages just might provide you with some inspiration for the year.
