Cold Weather Coziness

How was your weekend? I’m sure you wish it would last longer as I always do. My weekend was pretty low key, which was okay with me since I’ve been running on fumes lately. Friday in to Saturday we had some pretty crazy weather especially the very high winds, so I mostly just stayed in to hide from that. Seeing as that’s how most of my weekend was spent, I thought it was the perfect day to share a cozy post and a little funny story.

In the winter, I love to wear cozy clothes at home and if I’m on the couch, I will have a blanket on me 99% of the time. Granted, I’m always chilly so this is common in the summer when I have the AC on too. But, my at-home typical clothes in the winter are some sort of sweater or sweatshirt, sweatpants or yoga pants, fuzzy socks, and a blanket. Last Secret Santa with my friends, I got a pink striped pompom blanket and a hot chocolate set – the perfect cozy day items! At least that’s what I thought.

I feel pretty comfortable telling this funny, and a little embarrassing story, because I’m almost 100% sure that my friends this is about don’t read my blog. I don’t think they even know the name of my blog – though they do know I have one, it’s not a secret. But I digress. On a recent cold day, I thought it would be a great day to break out my hot chocolate set and take some photos of it with my new blanket. The picture on the box looked so cute. It had a set of mugs, a pot, stirrers etc. I wasn’t sure if hot chocolate mix was included, but that wasn’t a big deal. So I open the box and slide out the contents from the plastic tray insert. I see the all white mugs and pot. I also see things that look like marshmallows, but like fake ones. My initial thought was “are these fake marshmallows just for decoration?”. Then, I tried to pull one of the mugs out, but I was having a lot of trouble to pop it out of the plastic. While I’m trying to get it out, I realize it doesn’t really feel like a mug. I decide to give up on trying to get the mug out for a moment and take a closer look at the box. Turns out, it’s not a real hot chocolate set, but a kid’s play set! It just looks real because it’s from Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia line and she said it’s something she came up with for her kids to play with while she’s making real food etc. The cups and everything are made of painted wood!

I haven’t told my friends that they accidentally gave me a kids’ toy because that’s embarrassing for them, and I’m fairly certain that my broadcasting it here still won’t get back to them. On the one hand, I think it’s better to not say anything and make them feel bad. On the other hand, I guess I only got a blanket for Christmas this year from Secret Santa? haha Anyway, I’m keeping the set for my future children (hopefully) because it is really nice. You know, for kids. Not for adults.

Sweater: Kohl’s | Mug: Williams Sonoma

So no hot chocolate for me, but I drank coffee out of my “Love is love is love” mug from Williams Sonoma, which I wrote about in a post (here). I wore a light mint lace-up sweatshirt, marled yoga pants (which I’m currently wearing right now as I type this on Sunday), and the pink striped pompom blanket.

I hope you enjoyed my little cozy post and gift mishap. What do you think you’d do in my situation?
