I Finally Saw Coco
If you know me, you know I love movies and tv. I pride myself in being well versed in a variety of genres. When I was looking at this article about the 50 Best Movies on Netflix Right Now I had seen a good handful of them, but there were a few I hadn’t seen. One being Coco.
The Disney movie Coco came out 2 years ago and I just watched it for the first time last night. I know – super late to the game. I love Disney movies and pretty much everything Disney. So why did I wait so long to watch this well-loved movie? To be honest, I was avoiding it because people kept telling me it was sad! I have this habit of avoiding movies and TV shows if it’s supposed to be really sad and I’m not in the right mood for it. I even put off watching episodes of series if things don’t look to be working out the way I want them to. Take the tv show The Resident for example. The two main characters who are in a relationship are going through a rough patch and the previews always make it look like they’re about to break up. So I put off watching the episode for as long as possible because I am just not ready to watch!
But let’s get back on track. I watched Coco last night finally on Netflix and I’m happy I finally did! I loved it! The storyline, the bright colors, music, culture, etc. were everything. Yes, there were some sad parts, but overall there was a message of love, following your dreams and passions, and that family is the most important thing.
I thought I’d just put the movie on in the background while I did some work and I could half pay attention. But, the movie really sucked me in and I was glued to the screen. Would Miguel find his great-great grandfather? How would he convince his family to let him sing to his heart’s content? I had to watch and find out!
Have you seen Coco? What’d you think?

I watched it last year on Netflix. I thought it wasn’t bad but didn’t live up to the hype for me. Felt the same way about Incredibles 2 (which I watched last week).

I haven’t seen Incredibles 2 yet. I hate when sequels aren’t good!
