August 2019 Favorites

August was so crazy and busy that it felt like a really long month, but at the same time I can’t believe it’s actually September. In August I went to San Francisco for a week, had to wear my glasses for 2 weeks, had a birthday, went to see Backstreet Boys , had my first session of the Vbeam laser on my face, went back to work, got in to LIKEtoKnow.it and moved out of my townhouse. That is a lot of things! All in one month!

Since I am exhausted from all the packing this weekend, let’s get right to my favorites in August. I’ll try to make it quick!

First, during my trip to San Francisco I learned that the infamous fog in the city is named Karl. I found this little book, Karl the Fog, in a gift shop by the Golden Gate Bridge and thought it would make such a good and unique souvenir! It is a picture book filled with scenic photos of San Francisco with Karl lurking in the background or completely taking over and has hilarious captions/comments as told by Karl. I’ve included two examples below!

Next up, early in the month child actor, Jacob Tremblaywas on The Tonight Show and I loved his interview. It was so funny! See below!

I have 2 more tv related favorites for you. I did a lot of binge watching this month clearly.

I have been an Elementary fan since the beginning and the final season just aired. I really enjoyed this last season and I think it was a really good ending too.

The other tv show I loved this month was Mindhunter on Netflix. I remember seeing some people talk about season 1 back when it came out, but didn’t watch. Then, I saw Jonathan Groff promote it on the Tonight Show and I finally found out what the show is about so I decided to watch both seasons 1 and 2 and I liked it so much that I’m hoping a 3rd season happens! If you don’t know what it’s about it is basically based on the true events/FBI agents that created the BSU (Behavioral Science Unit). I think, if Criminal Minds is correct, it’s called the BAU now. But back in the late 70s, early 80s these two guys decided that what they needed to do was study convicted killers to find out their thought process, personalities, all of that so they could understand their minds. It’s like the show Criminal Minds, but the origins of it. It’s so good! I watched both seasons in 2 weeks.

My next favorite is a mug from AnthropologieI love mugs and Anthropologie always has good ones – they’re also one of the few things I can afford at the store! I got the swan and stag ones last year and this year I got this beautiful tiled mug.

And my last favorite is Taylor Swift’s new album LoverI love the entire album and every time I listen to it I have a new favorite. When I first heard the album the songs I loved, besides the ones on the radio, were “Cruel Summer”, “The Man”, and “Cornelia Street”. Then on my 2nd listen, I loved “False Gods” so much. Now, I’m still loving all of those but I’m really in to “Death by a Thousand Cuts” and “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince”. I saw some people say the same thing on Twitter – the more they listened to the album the more their favorite song(s) changed. Regardless, I love the album and I hope I can see her on tour again!
