Oatmeal Sweater Dress + Plaid Scarf

I’m so excited to share with you the first look of three that I shot with Lauren last weekend for our holiday shoot. Christmas decor is my absolute favorite so I was so looking forward to this holiday shoot! We met up in the Palmer Square area of Princeton which was beautifully decorated for the holidays. When I tell you it was like walking in a Hallmark movie, I am being so serious. There were even carolers! It was basically a dream come true for me!

For this first outfit I’m sharing with you I wore an oatmeal colored sweater dress and an oversized plaid fringe scarf. You can’t really see it because my scarf is blocking it, but there is a center seam down the dress and that is so on trend right now. The dress is a little oversized (I’m wearing a small) and I contemplated wearing a belt, but didn’t for 2 reasons. 1) I wanted to go for a loose fit and 2) I already have my belts at my new condo and the guys were working on my stairs so I couldn’t go get my belt before my shoot. Lastly, I wore black over-the-knee boots and that’s it!

I love the way this outfit turned out. I got this scarf and knew I had to wear it for photos and then planned around it. I got this sweater dress and thought they’d look great paired together. A really simple look easily dressed up for the holidays but just adding a Christmas plaid scarf!

Normally we shoot in the morning except that one time over the summer when we met in the evening before sunset for some evening looks. This time we met in the afternoon because I wanted to do something different from last year’s mood which was bright sunshine Christmas. Meeting around 2:30 was actually the perfect time because the Christmas lights started to go on and it was just the mood I was looking for.

It was actually a pretty chilly day – in the low 40s, but I didn’t feel cold while I was taking photos. I actually just carried my coat with me between shots and didn’t even put it back on once I had it off. I think the excitement of taking photos warms me up haha. Funnily enough when I got home and changed back in to comfy clothes I was freezing inside my house!

I hope you like this look as much as I do and I can’t wait to share the other two with you!
