The New Fondue Cookbook
If you follow me on Instagram and you follow my stories then you know I love to cook. I’m often sharing photos of my food on there. I was sent The New Fondue Cookbook before the holidays and since I had already asked for a fondue set for Christmas, this came at the perfect time.
I used to love girls’ nights at The Melting Pot (a fondue restaurant, if you are unfamiliar) every once in a while. And by every once in a while, I mean 1-2 times a year. But, the location near me closed and I think the next closest one is close to an hour away, so I have no idea when the next time I’ll get to go to one will be. So I wanted to get my own fondue set so I could try doing it at home.
Due to social distancing, I’m not able to invite friends over for fondue, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying a recipe from the book earlier this week. I made the Cajun Hot Pepper Cheese Fondue and just 1/4’d the recipe so it wouldn’t be too much for one person.
For this recipe you’ll need:
- beer
- gouda
- cheddar
- gruyere
- garlic
- onion
- green onion (I left this out, because I forgot!)
- parsley
- red bell pepper
- cornstarch
- water
- Tabasco sauce
For dipping, I cut up baguette, apples, and broccoli and also included baby carrots.

It was really good!
I can’t wait to try some more recipes from the book. There are more cheese fondue options like Italian Pesto Fondue with Cheese. There are savory, non-cheese options like Savory Scallop and Sake Fondue. And then there are sweet fondue options like Honey Almond Fondue Flambe. I think I want to try a dessert one next!
